Seth Manfield (Burn) has stumbled after starting 12-0, but he and Jacob Wilson (Abzan) are both hot in the hunt for the Top 8 at Pro Tour Fate Reforged.

Sutcliffe has improved so much since his first days as a broadcaster. Instead of asking dumb questions he asks the right ones and actually has some good commentary on the matches. Bravo.

I miss this ProTour setup. The "We'll be back in 3 minutes" really killed coverage. Can we go back to this, Wizards?
@Quarion219 жыл бұрын
In game 3, couldn't Manfield have targeted one of his swiftspears with the bolt. (After the lavaspike it's 2/3, so it will be 3/4 before bolt resolves right?)

he did that but he lose 2 hp from eidolon.

Can someone explain how Sam Black forces two copies of Pact on Justin at around 15:00? Is he holding priority to allow second Hive to resolve? I'm completely boozled... Which trigger is he holding?
@WoRMaSTeR649 жыл бұрын
It is not shown in the broadcast but I believe Justin has cast Summoners Pact in his turn. Sam Black just simply cast Hive Mind and then targeted it with his own Pact on Negation. Justin does not have enough mana to pay for 2 pacts.
@NathanJ6669 жыл бұрын
Ahhh... Ok. Yeah I see the dice on his deck which he did throughout the tourny to remind him. I think I see it in his graveyard too. That makes way more sense. Thanks. I thought I was crazy and Sam was doing some insane rule/trigger stacking that I was unaware of.
@jonahbrooks55709 жыл бұрын
Mitchell Lewis Actually, he plays two Hive Minds, forcing Justin to copy the Pact twice.
@WoRMaSTeR649 жыл бұрын
jonah brooks No he does not. He counters his own Hive Mind on the stack with the Pact of Negation and it is clear and said in the broadcast. Firstly he could not cast Pact of Negation if nothing was on the stack so the Hive Mind is clearly on the stack, secondly having 2 Hive Minds in the battlefield and casting Pact of Negation does absolutely nothing anyways since you can counter the first copy with the second copy and not have to pay for it. You do not have to pay for a pact if it does not resolve.

I am not a pro ofc, and I have huge respect for Jacob Wilson but ad 23:15 Jacob is so far ahead, shouldn't he keep the Leyline in his hand? Just keep Seth of guard for the next match?

At around 10:30 it looks like one of the judges on the right has a binder full of cards. What could that be for? Is it to show the exact text of foreign cards?

How was sam black combo on Game 1 ?
@magician1689 жыл бұрын
he cast the first hive mind, then counters his own second hive mind with a pact to force Justin to pay for 2 pacts or lose because justin already has one pact that he cast to pay for
@franchello11053 жыл бұрын
@@magician168 Not sure which other Pact Justin would have to pay for. He points his copy of Pact of Negation at the Hive Mind being cast, his copy resolves and Sams spell fails to resolve.

Actually, as a longtime burn player, burn mirrors can get kind of grindy, especially if there are multiple Kor Firewalkers/Dragon's Claws on the board. In fact, a burn deck recently piloted by Shahar Shenhar played Geist of St. Traft in the sideboard for two matchups - slow control decks, and the burn mirror.

how does the kor firewalker die in the burn mirror ???

skullcrack

The Firewalker has protection from red which means any damage dealt to it by a red source is prevented, but after thee Firewalker blocked the Goblin Guide Smith cast Skullcrack which says that damage can't be prevent this turn, that includes the damage that its protection from red ability would have normally prevented. It's an interesting little interaction, one I've never actually seen played before.

The Irish Blaggard But Skullcrack says 3 damage to a player
@chaoswarhound9 жыл бұрын
***** Indeed it does, but the "damage can't be prevented this turn" part of the spell is just a global effect that happens once the spell has resolved, it doesn't just apply to whatever was targeted. By targeting a player with skullcrack and having that skullcrack resolve, any damage dealt to any player or permanent that turn can't be prevented.
@FortunatoAcosta9 жыл бұрын
I actually thought Skullcrack said all damage to a player can't be prevented, that's a neato interaction.

Stupid question but if someone bolts my voice of resurgence on my turn do I get two tokens? Because the death and the spell cast
@stephenlewis35719 жыл бұрын
If Wilson attacked with finks AND voice token @ 8:30 he could have dropped Manfield to 2 the following turn locking the game untill he drew rhino.
@Quarion219 жыл бұрын
Then the Eidolon would've attacked back for the final 2 damage.
@stephenlewis35719 жыл бұрын
He still had a finks up to block which would have gained him two more life, putting him at 4.
@bearonthejob9 жыл бұрын
Stephen Lewis Seth started with 11 life, so if Jacob attacked with a Finks and Elemental, Seth would have just taken it and gone to 5. Next turn Seth plays Swiftspear and attacks with all 3 creatures. Jacob could only block one, and would take 2 damage from the others, killing him.
