Keep in mind, everyone, that the Pro Tour is not a 'solved' meta. Remember Pro Tour Khans when Jeskai aggro made up 3 top 8 spots, but in GP Antonio in November, there was only 1, and it included 8 more creatures. To say that Standard is cancerous or stale is a serious overstatement, as there are answers to the dominating deck.

The pro tour is the pinnacle tournament. Besides the World Championship, this is the one people tune in to, and the one that is hyped the most. Saying "look, this GP had different results than the pro tour almost 3 years ago" is not a good argument. This pro tour contained 6 of the same deck (ok, that one guy splashed black, but I'm counting it). Pro tour Amonkhet, 4 marvel decks, 3 zombie decks. PT Aether Revolt, 6 copies of Mardu Vehicles. PT Kaladesh had some variance. That's 4 PTs back. Are people really suggesting that this is a good thing? There's no problem there? Because to me, this seems like a worst case scenario, net decking is the only way to win. I don't want to play that way, and I'm surprised anyone does.

Everyones complaining about aggro and bad standard and all this bullshit. Standard will never be a perfect healthy environment and there will always be a dominant archetype. It's fine.

Not only, but also. He could've won that game 3-0 if he didn't make himself a mistake playing hazoret instead of falkenrath + open mana for abrade. Anyway, it was very well deserved, congrats!

Ed Findlay that's like saying he only won because a car didn't hit him on his way to the pro tour. Point being anyone who wins a pro tour got lucky at some point but most of the time it's Less clear luck(drawing a better mix of cards) and alot is of camera. This time it was very clear luck and on camera. The point is the put your self in as many possible situations to get lucky and to take full advantage when you do get lucky. That's what skill is about, not to be able to win without luck.

Why does Marshall say that hazoret won the game at 46:15? Was it just some sort of odd mistake or am I not getting something?
@CGoody564
@CGoody564 7 жыл бұрын
Axel Bloodmoon simple mistake. Remember, he drew hazoret and LSV was pretty sure he was going to play it. He played earthshaker khenra instead, either way the result is the same; last creature made the attack lethal. For all intents and purposes, whether he played hazoret or khenra made no difference; pretty sure he played khenra in case Pardee had an answer for it, so he could still play hazoret next turn with almost guaranteed lethal.
@Ziddletwix
@Ziddletwix 7 жыл бұрын
It wasn't wrong. Playing Hazoret *would* have won the game there as well. In fact, both eternalizing the Khenra and playing Hazoret would win the game assuming that Pardee has no removal (this happened to be the case). It's just that PVDDR went for the slightly safer play. If Pardee has a Grasp of Darkness, then he survives the attack either way. However, in the case of playing hazoret, he gets to deal with a very resilient threat, whereas against the eternalized Khenra, he is forced to waste his removal on a low value threat, leaving PVDDR with Hazoret ready to go next turn. Marshall saw the obvious route to victory. Most of the times, that play would still have given PVDDR the win, as he had a substantial advantage. But PVDDR (being the pro player he is) saw that eternalizing the Khenra was a slightly safer play (if PVDDR was able to Grasp Hazoret, and then had removal the following turn for Glorybringer, he might have been able to come back. That line of play is much much worse against an eternalized khenra).
@llLastll01
@llLastll01 7 жыл бұрын
no your right. he eternalized the khenra, but all of the announcers said that Hazoret won the game... haha (my conspiracy theory is they did that to push sales of Hazoret lmao) oh and did you see Luis-Scott Vargas face when he said that? XD kills me dead

I love that Magic POTY is determined exclusively on points earned. So many different games and sports include a fan vote in the mix, which I immediately exclude as legit since there's always a lot of bias from fans in those votes.

Also guys a friend and I have worked a long time on making a game that has some inspired elements of magic but has anime influences made for mobile. It pulls from a lot of different things. I understand that certain sets wind up favoring certain archetypes, but I am SICK of aggro. You have 60 cards in a deck, the game should not be over by the time only 6 cards have been played, that's absurd. I hope Ixalan is very strategic and control based so players like me that actually enjoy games lasting longer than 4 minutes can have some fun again. Shuffling should not be taking nearly twice as long as the game you just played. I get that each archetype can have its set in the sun, but I'm ready for aggro to be finished as basically the only truly viable archetype right now. Just my opinion, so if you like aggro that's great, but I personally want to play longer games of Magic again.

@ha7e777
@ha7e777 7 жыл бұрын
Oh, I didn't say that marvel or S. combo was good, it was like like diarrhea. It's just not healthy when win depends of who start first, because everyone play red. You just can't deal with this pressure that red deck makes for first couple rounds, if you do, most of the time chandra is entering to empty board. Didn't mention Glory bringers and hezerets. Mana base for this deck is also like wtf,. All untap lands and 12 damage only in lands. Every red deck want this kind of mana base. Only bw control with life gain could deal with that, and it will end like every standard for last couple of years. 2 maybe 3 decks that are competitive, and wizards will do shit about it.
