Ein wirklicher Geniestreich! Wunderschöne Arbeit und tolles Ergebnis. Ich fürchte lediglich, zwischen dem Laden und dem ersten und letzten Wasserkontakt vergeht ziemlich viel Zeit. Wer die hat, wird aber reichlich belohnt!!!!

Fine looking, good performing outrigger canoe, with a clever system to load it onto car roof. However, the term proa seems to be used very broadly by a lot of people. I tend to define a proa narrowly. As an single outrigger canoe, that has a hull that is symmetric fore & aft, and asymmetrical side to side. Leeward side fairly flat or straight, and windward (outrigger) side more curved. Sailed with the outrigger always to windward side, that tacks by shunting. Exchanging bow & stern. Which this canoe is not. But that being said, very nice looking outrigger canoe that looks like its a lot of fun to own and sail. I like it. Thanks for posting it, hope you're still enjoying it.

Yes the word proa means different things to different people. Probably need to mention the type of proa as the Melayu word for boat is perahu and the carib word for a dug out canoe is piraua that gives us the spanish word piragua and the French word pirogue. So clearly no one type of boat or people can claim the word proa as it's obviously derivative.

Wow. This is a wonderful to look at and unique sailboat that also motors well with an inspirational car loading system that sails wonderfully with one person and half the commenters are clucking about the definition of a word in the title. Pearls before swine. I subscribed!

Because this is not a true proa. It is a very pretty outrigger sailboat, but not capable of shunting.

Once you start thinking about such a boat, or larger, with cabin and engine, then an outrigger has its advantages over a true proa.

Yes ! It's a proa, but a monodrome (=an unique direction of sailing) proa, not an amphidrome (=tthe possibility of either directions of sailing) one. I agree : what a nice boat.
