I get the odds of one ace is 13-1. What are the maths behind the odds of 4 aces straight out of the pack? According to Kryten (Red Dwarf) in the episode Quarantime one ace is 13-1. Two aces are 221-1,3 aces 5525-1.Finally 4 aces 270725-1. I have a problem I am trying to solve but never seem to be able to find a straight forward answer so I thought it would be best to ask a question here. In a UK greyhound race there are usually 6 dogs in each race. In a forecast picking the winner and second place there are 36 outcomes. What I am trying to figure out are the bookmakers odds of winning a forecast out of 169 races. Australians would call this bet an exacta.

P (an Ace AND a King) = 0 An Ace always has the word Ace on the card and a King always has the word King on the card. Regardless of their colors and whether they are hearts, diamonds, spades or clubs, an Ace and a King are always separate cards. No card has both the word Ace and King on it. So, one card cannot be both an Ace and King at the same time. If someone else has a more logical explanation, please share your understanding with the community.
