Hey folks, I'm green to machining and am incorporating more probing in. I feel what's missing from these probing videos is actually seeing the probing and how it works after explaining how to do it in Fusion. Maybe there are things to watch out for on the machine itself, etc? Also, is there a way in Fusion to create a height map. I often engrave uneven large surfaces and want to know if Fusion can to an autolevel operation, a Z height map of stock, and then be able to apply that to an op? Facing the part, to even out the slight irregularities is not in option in my case, very thin material. Thanks!

The short answer is, no. Even with "Inspection" you could still only locate the part in X and Y, and then Z. But, you can not change the G17,18, or 19 work plane. Unless you a have 5 axis w/ DWO. Your solution might be simpler than that. They make Spring Loaded Engraving holders. www.2linc.com I hope that helps!

Awesome videos. So you have to probe the first part in the machine, and then the probe knows roughly where to go and it just updates on every part?

You got it! After you've probed the Part with the machine, then you can use Fusion to probe from there. I am sorry I didn't make that clear. But, thanks for your question!
