Thank you, I'm very new to this and have been looking around for a good explanation on programs. So far you were the better. I learn by sight due to being Dyslexic and was doing good until you started what I thought was designing a bit. At the start you said you were using a 90 deg bit then you got into well I don't know what it was and after that couldn't keep up. All the other vids I watched just picked the bit and moved on. Thanks for a good vid.

Thanks for the time and effort to explain the details. It would be great if you could do a follow-up video to cover things like why that one circle didn't get captured in the top left and how to clean up the centers of contours that are larger than your tool diameter. Loved the visual demonstration at the beginning.

Great video and explanation but what I would say is either stop down your aperture so that you and the parts you're holding to help explain are in focus or shift focus so that your viewer can see what you're showing them. Just a tip to help you improve, great work and keep it up!

thanks! great video! how would you clear some of the material before engraving? adaptive clearing? and what kind of tool would be better?
@NEWTechCreative4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. Run a face tool path in fusion with a depth of cut around 2mm. I use a 22mm flat facing tool with climb passes for a clean finish. Good luck 👍

It all worked great but the May update of Fusion seems to have a big bug if the image has curves. Left me know if you have a fix please.
@NEWTechCreative2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback @Mark Levenspiel! I've just created a sample engraving tool path and everything seems to be fine. I'm happy to look at your file and check for errors? the only thing I can think of is that somehow you might have changed your 'Junction deviation' or your 'arc tolerance'. Feel free to email me at newtechcreative@gmail.com . Thank you

Thanks! I usually use cheap, free F-Engrave for this kind of work, but if I can do it all in Fusion 360 it will be more convenient. I'm not really seeing a big difference between the two approaches in terms of results. For the free form shapes, at least, selecting the contour lines on the surface, or selecting the contour lines on the surface with an extruded depth, seems to give the same results. Am I right in thinking that all the extrude command does is limit the depth of cut in the actual milling?
@NEWTechCreative3 жыл бұрын
Not a problem @s j . Yes you are correct! there really isn’t much different as it is only following contour lines, however the extrusion doesn’t make a difference…. The depth of the engrave is set via the bottom height in the tool path setup. It doesn’t take into account the depth of that area, rather it only calculates depth from the with/ how far apart of selected contour lines. I hope that makes sense? Maybe try it out in fusion and watch the preview in fusion to check parameters.

The new JULY UPDATE has not solved the engrave toolpath errors - simply does not like arcs in any closed segment. Have you investigated this and/or solved the problem?

Thanks for your comment Mark. I’ll have a play today and get back to you.

It would be so helpful when they would implement a depth restriction and support for a cleanup tool. Like the cheapest CAM software like Estlcam can do.

enjoyed this, can you explain or show how to create a sign and copy it to cut more that one at a time?
@NEWTechCreative3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your message @Bo toepfer. There are a few ways for copy across patterns. The easiest way for 2D patterns is to export them as a dxf file and import them into future projects when needed!
@Stellarffxi Жыл бұрын
Wish you would have explained the shortcut to copy the sketch in fusion.. been trying to figure that out. lol. ctrl c and v doesnt work the way it did on your screen for me...
@NEWTechCreative Жыл бұрын
Sorry I didn’t clarify. There is another way you can copy - in the sketch, select the sketch items then go to ‘modify’ tab at the top, then ‘Move/Copy’ (or just click ‘M’) then click on ‘create copy’ in move/copy settings, then move! I hope this solves the issue 👍

Question: What, if anything, can be done if you have a weaker spindle and can't use a larger vbit? I have a 1/4" 90 degree vbit and I'd like to make some deeper v-carves but I haven't found any way to do that. Advice?
@NEWTechCreative4 жыл бұрын
Good question!! In fusion 360 this is possible. I’ve had to edit this reply a few times as I thought of an easier way each time 😁. Just set you bottom height to desired depth without an offset and use multiple depths to plunge beyond the height of tool flute length. I hope this makes sense... this is just a theory in my head so please let me know if this works??

Thank you for the video. Can you explain how you Zero out the CNC machine and how you set coordinates in Fusion 360? No matter where I put the coordinates in Fusion 360, the zero point always shows up in the center of the model in Universal Gcode Sender
@NEWTechCreative4 жыл бұрын
In your setup in fusion 360, ensure to select the stock point option and select where you would like the zero point. If this isn’t selected, it will automatically select the center. Good luck Rob 👍
@zaccochrane22223 жыл бұрын
@NEWTech Creative the circles that was 20mm diameter was roughly the same size as the bit so fusion 360 saw it as a drilling path instead of engraving
@BrandonWhipp4 жыл бұрын
So did you figure out how to remove the center of the circles in the top right of each geometry?
@RandyCooper853 жыл бұрын
It's not selecting the 20mm circles because your bit is too large. Try cutting them at a higher depth. Cutter compensation will fail because it doesn't make sense to fusion.
@ernestrhoades51474 жыл бұрын
I believe your depth of cut is to much, try changing it and then regenerate the path use only the ( very tip ) for that much detail.
