You would need to subtract the energy from the non-conservative force from the left hand side of the equation (work energy equation)

Since there is no displacement in the "y" direction, it isn't necessary to compute the change in potential from the gravitational term. If it did have translation in the "y' direction I would have included the potential energy terms due to gravity
