Problem with SJ4000 action camera, sdcard is not read

!!!!ATTENTION!!!! if you use a micro sd card bigger than 32GB you cannot format it with the camera, you need to download a program for your computer to convert the card to FAT32. Search google for micro sd to FAT32 and any of them work. I'm sure lots of people are having that problem and sending back the camera but its an easy fix.

It shouldn't happen on a 32gb card. You could try it though. same thing was happening to me with a 64gb card. It says it's recording but nothing was saved. Although in my case I couldn't see anything when plugged into computer either. If you want to try it search google "micro sd to FAT32" and follow instructions. Takes only a few minutes and it might fix your problem.

Thank you for posting this, I have a simular issue with my Odrvm camera. Anyone seeing this should know that I do not have this issue with my other action cameras (same price point). So main lesson is, DO NOT BUY ODRVM products

I had the same issue with a SanDisk 64GB drive. Switched to the 32GB and it worked. (Format to Fat32)

Fernando Alegre is correct however I'd like to add 1 more thing. I did everything listed below and no success. Then i read the tiny printed Manuel. (YES I'm a MAN) This camera supports 32 Gig Micro SD Cards or SMALLER. Mine was 64 Gig. I Exchanged it for a 32 Gig card, Formatted it and now it works fine.

My micro SD card stopped working all of a sudden. When the card's files could still be accessed and before it comepletely died, the names of all the videos and folders were a bunch of nonsense letters and characters: ex. [][][]a32[][4][dfg or something like that. If I knew this was gonna happen, I would have spent more money on a GoPro instead of an SJ4000.

I just fix the same problem. format your sdcard using your pc. "exfat" 32bit..., that was the whole problem.

Hey dear you should learn this SD cards normally get to lose their format! How its like a little removable part that does not hold power or energy thru itself and by itself! Thats a risk the device like phones headsets cameras etc have different power supply runners but equalized for their own function! SD cards are not a battery to hold power AND SPECIALLY SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED DURING A DEVICE WORK! must turn off the device and stick it in and the same out before their use! Thats a proper use for SD cards For example what it would happen if you remove your computer main memory card it will lose its own format and it would not work The technician will tell you what u have done bc of the memory. So any device still pass power through the ad memory when working and it lose their own format (bc believe or not static from the battery, memory receive a mini shock burning it) I hope it helps the same for all others !👍🏼

The problem may be that your camera and other cameras like it all require a 32gb or lower sd card, i know this because i have a similar action camera and i read this in the manual of the camera

I did format my San Disc 32GB Micro SD Card with the provided Adapter in my Computer but when the process was done it said it has only 29.9 GB memory instead of 32 GB why would this be the case? and when I have my camera mounted on my helmet (motorcycle) I won't see when it's full, how do I know how long it can approximately record videos with a 29.9 or 32GB memory card?

We found the solution, formatting is not going to do anything to start off with. Replace the SD card one more time but this time make sure your camera is not charging with the SD card inside. I think its due to the reason it gets really hot while charging im not really sure. The sd card that i charged while it was inside was a brand new un opened one. I replaced it with a really old one and works great! Make sure you dont charge your device with the sd card inside!!

What micro sd card are you using? I just cancelled my order for a ULTRA micro sd cd for an EXTREME micro sd card. They say Extreme are better for GoPro and I'm guessing SJ4000 because they read faster. Did you figure out what happened?

Mine powers down every time I put my SD card in or take it out. I've had it charging all night and attached to a power source every time. I've even tried it without being plugged into a power source. I got a crosstour camera for Christmas and I'm starting to worry it's going to need to be returned.

If your camera is similar to that on the screen the problem may be that the micro sd card has to be 32 gb or less, because i have a similar camera and it requires a 32gb or lower sd card

skontroluj či nieje nahodou karta naformátovaná na NTSF. ak je NTSF tak ju kamera nevidí. musí byť naformátovaná na Fat32 vtedy je to OK. check is not by chance card formatted to NTFS. NTFS so if it does not see the camera. must be formatted to FAT32 if it's OK.

Well the strange thing is that the SDcard was working for the last 2 weeks and all of a sudden it doesn't anymore. I tried several other sdcards with the same problem. I even tried to format the card in the camera, but the camera doesn't detect the card :(

That isn't a real sj4000. When u power it on it should say SJCAM on the front logo. If it doesn't u got a rip off from Hong Kong.

Hi Alex, this is a SJ4000, but it's one of the first ones. They didn't speak of the SJCAM then, and it does not have the latest firmware installed. It is not a rip off, trust me, i know the differences between the SJ clones and the real deal. Mine is the real deal :) As i mentionned earlier, i recieved a new one from my vendor, they replaced the faulty camera.

Just go into the SETTINGS and find FORMAT. Just click format and it takes a few seconds, and voila, it works. Easy.

I just had same problem. Put card in for 1st time and won't read. Bought thru E-bay so I may be in a better situation than you. Take card back if you can> best help I can offer. Good luck.

Have you tried another sd card? (maybe a different size card but in FAT32) If you have and it still not working, i would guess that the solderjoint on the sd cardreader has broken, therefor no connection to the cardreader.

this might work,turn on the sj4000 then take out the sdcard and the sj4000 should turn off so while the sj4000 is turning off put the sdcard in quickly

Alexander Burton format the 64gb sdcard with a pc into fat32. You may need to download a 3rd party software but it's free. Works for me

Had the same problem using MAC OS. If SD was formatted on Mac OR Windows this problem occurred. Formatting the card right inside the camera using the settings menu helped me out. Since then everything worked fine :-)
