I collect and refurbish antique pocket watches. This man should stick to clocks.

Well I guess he got it working and brought a great deal of joy to the owner. And you, when did you last light up somebody's eyes to that extent?

@@carlosrosa1965 He didn’t clean the pivots and knows it’s dirty. Pivots will wear and eventually require replacement. He’s not wearing finger cots. Oils and acids from fingers leave permanent stains on metals. He also didn’t inspect it for the cause of stopping. Many old watches won’t run because they were damaged when droppped. Running a watch with a broken pivot jewel, for instance, is like throwing sand and gravel in your engine crankcase. For any of these reasons, the owner could be back in a week.

Use a movement holder for bleeding sake, don’t put hands on with steel tweezers and bare hands 😭😭😭😭 typical clockmaker trying to fix watches

This programme is fascinating to watch but only because they call it 'the workshop of dreams' when 'the den of nightmares' would be more appropriate. The standard of woodworking is atrocious. They've started to relate themselves to brain surgeons recently -you're having a laugh!!!

Yes there are a lot of them around, they fondly imagine they can repair carriage clocks.

How can you dare touch this movement and dial not wearing finger cots ! I know, I know it's a TV show; and seeing that many people will try to fix their pocket watch dipping it in WD40 or fish oil, the poor brained owner have to bring the watch to an horologist instead !

Not all watchmakers wear finger cots. It comes down to the skin pH. By the way, George Daniels never wore finger cots. Perhaps he wasn't a real 'horologist'?!

It's a simple movement. I wouldn't let him near to my minute repeaters.
