This is all sorted now ,the plane has started doing its first international tests flights this month. Regarding the range it has lost 370 km out of the 8700 km originaly expected .The EASA is very strict compared to the FAA in terms of security ,and imposed Airbus to secure adequately those extra fuel tanks.

I have flown an A321LR and pretty much liked the Experience. It wasn´t worse than on a Widebody.

I've also flown the A321LR (with TAP), it was one of the best flights I've ever had. I don't mind flying a single isle aircraft over a widebody.

I'm looking forward to an aircraft that can make some International longhaul routes economically viable. In another discussion this week, there were comments about the lack of service from North America to smaller German cities (Dusseldorf, Hamburg, and Stuttgart). The A321XLR should make that possible.

Nice work. It looks like the A321xlr keeps getting it's range chipped away with each modification to the central fuel tank. Let hope the final version isn't effected too much.

As an advocate for elder and disabled people I must emphasize that long haul single aisle planes put us at risk, because it is much more difficult to move around the cabin in flight. This increases the likelihood of thromboembolism which can be life threatening. Twin aisle planes are therefore much safer. They are also much more comfortable even in coach. So even though the airlines prefer the narrow bodies, they really need to look at the bigger picture!
@sammiret4472 Жыл бұрын
I'd much rather the spaciousness of a twin aisle plane,
@mikestone9129 Жыл бұрын
Before I would consider a 6 to 7 hour single aisle flight, it had better be quite a lot cheaper to fly. I would want to know seat width and leg room on them as well. And I don't hear anyone talking about seat upgrades.
@maxsaviation9512 Жыл бұрын
The seats are typically wider than a lot of wide bodies

I'm hopeful more international airlines will use it to be able to fly directly to non-hub US cities - like low cost European airlines that could also serve the East Coast of USA.

The aircraft that gets from point A to point B in the least amount of time is what matters more so then whither it is a wide or narrow body aircraft.

As a passenger who occasionally flies between North America and Europe, I worry that it will be a stressful experience since single aisle aircraft can feel claustrophobic on flights over 5 hours. They don't feel spacious and it's harder to get up and walk around.
@filipborin5555 ай бұрын
It will be a totally unsuccessful airplane. Nobody wanna stay in that small compartment for many hours it will be totally uncomfortable. Moreover the interest toward it is small it will be the next A318,A319 a total fiasco. Furthermore with the return of b737Max the hole production of Cfm Leap will go to Boeing cuz every low cost company prefers B737 and the low cost companies are the future of aviation. The PW engines have technical problems which means more delays.

This missed a detail of the issue with that new fuel tank. The fire hazard only arises in a survivable crash landing which snaps off the landing gear and pushes it into the tank. If the same standard was applied to most jetliners with belly tanks currently flying they would never have been certified; crashworthiness standards have risen markedly in the last couple of decades.

@kenoliver8913 Жыл бұрын
@@nathd1748 Many widebodies have a centre tank (its explosion has destroyed two 747s - Pan Am 103 and TWA 800). The issue with the XLR's centre tank is it is far enough back that in a survivable crash landing which snaps off the landing gear the landing gear could be pushed into it - this is about crashworthiness rather than primary safety.
@nathd1748 Жыл бұрын
@kenoliver8913 the XLR centre tank is just aft of the wing box. No widebodies have tanks outside of the wing/wingbox.
