We have a large potted bay laurel tree that recently ran into some problems. Here's a look at how we treated the fungus and mites on the leaves!

Thanks for the upload, I've fenced in 5 Bay Laurel trees on my land in Rockport & I plan on training them to grow into a nice tree shape. I had to fence them in because of the deer they will strip off the bark from thees young trees.

Thank you!!!! This video was SO helpful!! My bay tree is looking so bad and has been bad for long time...I am hoping it will survive when I move him to a better spot and do what you did!

Hi, we don't cut laurel tree by a saw. We use an axe, because laurel have most good grewing reaction for that....

Hi Chris, any problems with anthracnose? Would love to see a video on how you guys treat it. I'm using a copper contact right now but looking for the right systemic to go along with it. Thanks!

Systemic option depends on the botanical pedigree. If you are a small garden, or small farmer, then a combination of Azoxystrobin + tebuconazle works great. This is not recommended for Citrus and apple. Mancozeb + Carbendazim is another combination that works on almost all types of horticultural plants. Please remember that Mancozeb is dangerous when improperly handled. Its a Zinc and Manganese usually in powder form. Please don't inhale the powder when mixing the fungicide. Its not volatile so there is no risk of inhalation once water is mixed. Azoxystrobin alone is very good at anthracnose, but being single mode of action it can become resistant with repetitive applications, therefore use a combination product. Mancozeb is great at contact action, but combination with carbendazim will reduce the later infection. There are other chemical compounds available too, but be careful not to use multiple products from the same family. Anthracnose multiples when the trees are soaked in the rain, best time to apply fungicide is just before the rains are expected and second application on dry days after the first rains.

hello again relaxingprawn, it seems we share the same interests :) Right now I'm using a copper along with Bonide INFUSE, I forgot what the active ingredient is for that systemic. I will use that combination this season and then switch to one of the ones you listed for the next season, that should reduce risk of immunity build-up correct? I don't plan on harvesting from my tree for the next 2 years so I'm not worried about systemic.

@@Zennofobic you must keep three chemicals from different families and alternate one after each other every spray. Doing so reduces the probability of resistance. Second point is cost per spray. Azoxystrobin costs are higher than plain sulfur or Mancozeb, but .5 ml of Azoxystrobin vs 3 grams of Mancozeb or Sulfur will cost nearly the same for making similarly diluted spray solutions. I am planning to make a video of how to calculate costs of spray in the coming weeks. This will be helpful to the the world when making budgets for their operations..

i look forward to the video. I will stick to my mainstream Bonide fungicides until I run out and then look into a different family. Thanks again.

Your camera work isn’t too good, how about a close up of the tree & leaves instead of the whole landscape
