Proboat Rockstar 48 vs Bonzi Sports 47 Skater

We took a Rockstar 48 out for a spin along with our regular boats ... this video demonstrates the difference between Chinese production boats and Custom US made boats ... The Rockstar is box stock with Chung Yang (Dynamite) engine ... The Skater is new this year and has a BZx5 Billet 29cc Zenoah (Modified by Bonzi Sports)

People have been asking on other media about the engines in both boats ... The Rockstar has a "Dynamite" 26cc 2 stroke water cooled engine ... this is manufactured by Chung Yang (CY) these are also known as Zenoah Clones ... The Bonzi Sports 47 Skater has a 29cc Zenoah G290PUM engine ... it is also a highly modified (BZx5) with Billet Engine case 4 high speed bearings and Trued and Welded crankshaft ... I was trying to highlight the handling characteristics of the Skater ... but we ran into water cooling issues with the Rockstar ... It never really got up to speed ... Brookland ran his Skater pretty hard with a modified 3 blade propeller which is pretty heavy loading ... you may have noticed at the end where he brings it in and feels the water flow ... he is checking the temperature ... the Skater has excellent water flow even at idle due to the 2 in 2 out water pump ...

Just wait to tweak your tune, she'll open up a bit higher, and set your trim on the stern drive, get the boat to ride a bit more towards the aft end at wide open throttle, a cheaper alternative to trim tabs. Only make adjustments of about a degree at a time, the less hull in the water equals less drag, drag bad drag slow...

Oh, also try a higher pitch prop different diameters, and number of blades also. Proposing can also be caused by prop flexion which basically means that the prop is changing its diameter due to propulsion and torque drag. Described best by sticking an umbrella out the window at highway speed.the outside edge gets smaller because the wind forces the frame back. props do the same thing in water

I get one "Rockstar" Proboat,and without finish my first tank of gas....went back to hobby store,5 times to fix different isssues.Finaly I return the "rockstar" and I get store credit.It also engine stall in the middle of the lake.Bad experience.Now,"Rockstar Proboat" will gent in the market the ...brushless tipe.Hm !!!

Play with the setup adjust high and low needles it sounded dead to me. Then for an apples to apples comparison put equal engines in them and let see what happens. Factor in price for each quality of build see who wins.

+J haneey Yea... ok. I get your point. The day would have gone like this.... Horizon Hobby Proboat Rockstar - $1099 The boat never makes it through its first tank of fuel. The failure of the in hull water pick up to PICK UP WATER causes the exhaust O-rings to melt and subsequently catch on fire ending it's day and almost melting the entire boat down. :/ Upgrades required: 2 in 2 out water pump and carb isolator block with pulse port installed $60, dual pick up rudder $35, fiberglass and paint work to remove in hull pick up $80+, upgraded water cooled exhaust manifold $40. I'd say the engine and exhaust too but let's not get picky. ($1,314 total excluding taxes) BonziSports 47 Skater - $1655 RTR Boat fires on the third pull and stays running long enough to adjust the idle screw, get the canopy on, and place it in the water. No rush once it's in the water. It has a water pump installed as part of the RTR package! No need to fiddle with the radio. It's a real radio with buttons and a menu and has been adjusted for best "out of box" performance by the guys at Bonzi Sports. The Skater with a stock 26cc Zenoah engine then proceeds to make it through an entire tank of fuel and complete its break-in procedure. Retrieve and refuel. Spend the rest of your day doing 40+ MPH and making adjustments for better performance. No modifications needed! $300 is a small price to pay for a quality performance boat delivered to your door and ready to go day one!

+J haneey I noticed in the video that the engine died twice when they secured the hatch ... the low wide canopy scoop looks substantial but Pro Boat installs a pretty heavy screen in the opening ... you have to consider that anytime you put screen in a vent opening you block flow ... Later we rigged this hull with a Billet BZx5 Zenoah and it just was not happy with the hatch on ... Later we opened up extra venting without screens and it ran fine ... although handling is still an issue as the hull is just not made to go fast ...

I have the Rockstar and I removed the screens before it hit the water new and also opened up the rear exits a lot. Never had a cooling problem no melting O-rings no starting problems. I installed a voodoo stainless 3 blade race prop and the hull bobbing and handling was stellar. Maybe yours was a lemon mine is spot on price was $999.00 plus tax. All underwater gear sharpened.

+Andreas knopman That is true ... it is unfortunate that Proboat can make these boats in China where the labor cost is extremely low and there is no EPA ... I will post a new video soon of the same Rockstar with a total Bonzi refit ... BZx5 Zenoah engine, Carbon fiber stringers and Radio box, High performance Clutch , 2in 2out water pump, Upgraded prop and dual water pick up rudder ...

In the video we are referring to the water outlets of which there are two and they both are operational. Your comment refers to the exhaust outlets of which there are also two but one is just for aesthetics which is correct. Exhaust was not brought up in the video nor is it supposed to be a wet system therefore my comment.

+Hb Willis If there where end points to adjust on the $4.99 Tx they include with their thousand dollar boat we would have. You can only work with what you have. ;)

+Hb Willis I noticed too that it died twice as soon as they secured the hatch ... although the canopy has a fairly large low wide scoop it is blocked by a screen ... while that looks cool you have to consider that screens block air flow ...

Good mAh rated lipos run for a while plus there are quick chargers and extra batteries. My 6s brushless boat will eat either one of these alive.
