Thanks for prop tip for the voracity 36.i also have the zelos twin.great boat..poor water pick up design.i mounted two more tubes.one on other side of drive shaft tube per side facing out but in line with stock tubes.they drop down hair less than 8th inch.large tubing, y connector,large outlets.water flows outstanding,starts 10mph.dont notice any drag.

+Dayton Edwards Thanks for the comment Dayton. I haven't felt like the stock water pickups or water flow is inadequate. Water pickups in the hull are how a lot of the bigger more custom, more expensive cats are setup. I'm not sure at what speed the water flow starts on my boat but it's flowing steady at slow speeds. Regardless, it sounds like you've got plenty of cooling for future modifications!

Looks good. What lipo setup did you use ? 4x3S ? or 2x 6S 50C ?

+RCJules Thanks Jules. I was using a 2x3S battery setup. The boat comes with a harness that lets you run two 3s batteries for a total of 6S and then it splits that between the two motors. So each motor is getting 6s.

I just got this boat yesterday took it out for its Maiden today. And excellent boat but it does seem a little light in the front end I flipped it twice but no damage

+Joe Ostrowski It was very windy and wavy yesterday and that's why it flipped. You should try to get the batteries as far forward as possible on the trays.

+VerocitySpartan Hey VS! Thanks for the comment. The 6S to each esc would be fine but I just don't know how the batteries would fit in the hull/trays. I don't have any 6s batteries to test fit. I only have 3s 5000mah packs. I'm sorry.

how many minutes runtime were you getting on two 3s packs? how much runtime with four 3s packs? I don't know if I can deal with the short runtimes on a boat.

It's been a while since I've run it down to the low voltage cut off but I think it will run for about 6-8 minutes. That's amazing speed for that amount of time though.

Did you have any heat issues running it with just the two 3s packs using the harness that is included with the boat? I ran mine the same way for my first outing and my wires were real hot and the batteries got really hot and swollen.thanks

+Gabe S I did not have any problems with heat but I was not able to run it real hard because of the wind/waves. What C rating are your batteries? ProBoat recommends at least 50C batteries I believe. You might not want to run the batteries all the way down to the low voltage cutoff either. That is a little hard on them I think and contributes to the puffing.

+God's Country I ran it with 50c 5200 mah batteries. The packs are fairly new with maybe 8-10 runs on them. I probably made six passes at moderate to full throttle. I didnt run the packs all the way down. I purposly brought the boat in just to check temps. Once i relized they were hot i stopped running it.

+Gabe S Very interesting. I'll have to watch mine. Sounds like your batteries should be up to the task. I will probably get rid of the Y harness and run two 3s packs straight to each ESC through 5.5mm bullet connectors.

+irok1d You could certainly do that but 4s to each ESC will only get you about 40mph with the stock boat.

I think I like the Zelos better but just barely. Still really love the Voracity.

I am up in the air I like the look of the mono and I like that there are less electronics to worry about I'm sure they are both plenty fast does the Verocity handle chop better? I like jumping some boat wake.

I feel like they're pretty close at handling chop. I think the V would be better for wake jumping but the Zelos hull is tougher.

+WIG SPLITTERS RC I'm still figuring out what the boat likes. So far I have run it with two 5000mah 3s packs for 6s total to both motors (through the Y harness). I will probably end up running four 5000mah 3s packs for 6s to each motor (no Y harness). In that case, each ESC has two 3s packs dedicated to it. It's tough to tell how much room is under the hatch because you can't see in there when it's closed. The forward most battery position does not have much height and that's where you will want to run the packs in order to keep the nose down. My 3s packs fit with room to spare but I don't know if a 4s pack would fit under there. I don't think a 5s pack would fit.

+propdoctor21564 Well it is wintertime! No, seriously, I ran the Formula a lot last year but I do run these little guys quite a bit! I'm telling you, you need to get one! Yes, that was a flip at the end. The water was way to rough to run boats but this is a brand new boat and I wanted to get some video of it.

So which do you like more, the Zelos Twin or Voracity? I know the hulls are different so that will affect it but do you think the twin props make a big difference over the single prop in the Voracity? Have you tried AquaCraft or Atomic RC boats or have you just had good luck ProBoat RC's?

+travisamc Hey Travis. That's a tough question! Right now I'm hot on the Zelos because it's so new but I've had a huge amount of fun with the Voracity. With a prop change, the Zelos has already equaled my modified Voracity's fastest top speed. But the Zelos is more expensive, the props are twice as expensive, and the maintenance takes twice as long. I don't own any Aquacraft or Atomic boats but I am completely sold on Proboat. They are very quality and if you have a problem, they will take care of you.

+God's Country thanks for the reply. I'm bitten by the bug and about to get into RC Boating. I've got some trucks and cars but wanted to try out some boats. Which boat around 18" would you suggest? I'm looking for a brushless setup that'll run a single Lipo.

+travisamc I've got the AromikRC Barbwire XL 24", AquaCraft MiniMono 18" & ProBoat Shockwave 26" in my sights. All brushless and run Lipos, I love the self righting feature of the Barbwire boat, seems very nice.

+travisamc I would recommend that you get the biggest (longest) boat that you can afford. It will handle rougher water better. I would go brushless like you say. I really don't have a ton of experience with boats in this size range but I would explore the ProBoat Recoil 26 and 17, Shockwave 26, and Blackjack 24.

+Tomberland The Zelos 36 was just released and I was one of the first to get one so this video was the only time I've run it. I need some time to run it more. Even though both boats are cats that are about the same length, they really aren't that similar. The Zelos will be much faster and is much better built (which it should be for it's price). I will be shooting more video of the Zelos sometime soon. Thanks for the comment!

God's Country Yes the Zelos looks awesome, it has some great specs. It is obviously a higher quality boat than the flowmaster. Nevertheless the flowmaster with the right props is one fast boat also. But the build quality is very different, I agree. Somebody I know recently bought the Zelos 36, and I bought the HK Flowmaster so we are going to race soon ;) Unfortunatelly his flexshaft broke in the first 5 minutes he tried the boat so he's currently waiting for a new one. Have fun with your Zelos and Flowmaster!

+Tomberland He broke a flex already? That's really strange. There are hardly any boats out there in consumers hands yet. I would tend to think that maybe he used the wrong flex with the wrong motor (flex unwound) or he didn't have a coupler tight enough and the flex spun inside the coupler. I've done that before.

+God's Country Hey I just sold my flowmaster and bought the Zelos 36. I've only driven it one time, but I got this problem with my two ESC's not beimg in sync with each other. After I was done driving the boat, only one ESC had the LVC active, the other one still had the green led and full power. Did this happen to you too? Aren't they suppose to go to LVC at the same time? Not separately? It was hard to steer the boat in LVC mode because one side pulled harder than the other. Also on shore I checked the propellers spinning (out of the water). The right one (seen from behind the boat) runs kind of stuttering while the left one runs smoothly and even. It respons on small throttle inputs from my transmitter while the right one seems te come alive from 1/3th throttle and up. Do you know what could be wrong and how to fix it? I already did the throttle range adjust like described in the manual. Both leds are steady green with full throttle to check it. Weird....

I'm not really sure what to tell you. I hardly ever run down to the LVC so I can't remember if mine cut off at the same time or not. Are you running the battery harness that comes with the boat? You could switch the ESC signal wires to see if the problem switches sides. I think this might be a problem to ask Horizon Hobby/Proboat. I wish I could help more but I'm just not sure what to recommend.

Sounds like you're not a rc beginner! The Zelos 36 is a super quality boat and is worth what they charge for it. The hull is heavy duty and with a prop change only it will run mid to low 70s.
