This Video on CP Cpk from Advance Innovation Group is intended to help the audience get a deeper insight to the Process Capability Indices of Cp CPk. The agenda of this Video on CP Cpk is to help you understand process capability measurement, Process Capability Ratio, Understanding Specification Limits and Control Limits, Understanding Z-Score, Understanding DPMO and Cp, Cpk.
Process Capability is the degree to which a system or service meets customer expectations or the ability of a process to produce defect free products. While you intend to study Process Capability it is recommended that you understand the Normal Distribution curve well. The above should be clear with this Video on CP Cpk.
If I add one standard deviation and subtract one standard deviation from the Mean, the area under the curve shall be 68.26%. If I add two standard deviation and subtract two standard deviation it would roughly cover 95.44%. While plus minus three standard deviation will constitute 99.74% of the data. If you were to superimpose Customer Specifications limit, the Upper Specification Limit and the Lower Specification Limit, any time data that goes beyond the specification limits shall be considered as a defect. Specification limits are mostly decided by the customer who may give you one sided or two sided specification limits. Please some one explain me As explained in video if cp = 1 then specification width and standard deviation should be same (as it look in diagram) but actually we are dividing 6 times of standard deviation . So normal distribution not just touching the specification USL and LSL ,but actually it is well within specification limit.

Consider this as an example. LSL=0, USL =12, Mean =10, Stdev =2 Whats the Cp. According to you it would be 12/2*6= 1 showing that process is capable of meeting customer requirements. But in this case 2.28% defects are being produced in normal process. Kindly explain please.

Indresh Saluja Mr Saluja, thanks for the question. While looking at CP, you are looking at short term capability i.e. Z St value shall be applicable and not Z Lt...and at that Zst level you will not have 2.28% defect as stated by you. And considering the Normal dis concept, we are saying that beyond a ND only 100 - 99.73% data will fall.

You got me wrong. What I am stating is the error in the video explanation that if cp=1 it means process is meeting customer requirements which may not be true.
