I'd love to see the install. I love seeing how others setup their observatories - I always see ways for improving mine. Great processing video, thanks!

I don't mind that processing videos are repetitive at all, I always pick up a new bit of info. For example, I feel pretty comfortable with GHS, but but I'm going to rewatch how you adjusted the protect highlight and shadows sliders. Bring on the photoshop video. Very nice job!
@darkrangersinc6 ай бұрын
Well thank you for the kind words. GHS is something I spend a lot of time teaching so I’ve tried to come up with a fairly systematic way to do it (picking from dark to light for symmetry points and more local intensity than stretch factor but still using both, and finishing with linear). But unfortunately these videos don’t do as well as other topics but as long as people still value them I’ll mix them in! 3 down 7 to go for PS!

No hate for someone with an AP mount and a Tak 130. I got the Mach2GTO a couple years ago. I actually went to High School a couple miles from where Astrophysics produces their gems near Rockford, IL. I've been on the AP 155 Starfire wait list for 22 years now, LOL. Not gonna happen, but at least I got one of their mounts, a TRUE work of art. Roland recommended I get a TEC 160FL, so I got that instead of a TAK 150. Interestingly, Telescope Engineering is only about an hour from where I live in Colorado. ALLL that to say, I will never hate on anyone that has the privilege of owning anything AP or TAK. Well, ONE exception. There is a guy that has an AP 155 Starfire and he uses a damn IPHONE to take pictures with it!!!! When I asked him why oh why he doesn't use a REAL AP camera to really make that scope shine, he said, he just wanted to show how good an iPhone could do with astrophotography. I'm thinking, REALLY?! You want to prove that an iphone costing more than triple the price of a solid monochrome planetary camera, can make a $25K telescope set up, perform like a $2500 one? OK!
@darkrangersinc6 ай бұрын
Yeah, that does sound like a bit of a crime lol! it was all in good fun, I am never jealous of somebody’s set up if it’s something that I truly want then I’ll work hard and make it happen. I really like my 140 at F6.7 instead of 7.7 so I wouldn’t trade but certainly would use one if offered! If I were to get an AP mount the Mach2 is the way to go. it comes with encoders which I feel is one of the best reasons to upgrade to a mount like that. Mounts can give adequate accuracy with guiding. If I’m spending five figures on a mount, I want to throw the guide scope in the garbage lol and be near Zero RMS. Since I’m not remote, a lot of the other features aren’t necessary for me so it would mostly be about the encoders and the quality

5 down 5 to go for PS tutorial, I don’t think there’s anything in there that we haven’t gone over one on one, but I know you like to have some reference material :). See you guys soon!

I’m also on the fence, I might be out growing my ZWO gear, struggling with it all the time wears thin.

Doing a whole Eagle install this weekend as I type. With a flat panel and all the fun stuff you just can’t do with ZwO

Always learning some new tweak or technique with these videos. Thanks again mate
@darkrangersinc6 ай бұрын
Thanks! I can’t imagine there’s much more than a small tweak or two that you could learn at this point with your Ha/Oiii processing. What some of you guys are doing with OSC cameras is super cool to me.

I am considering moving to Pixinsight so found this tutorial very interesting, especially as have just begun capturing data on the crescent nebular, I live at 53°N so dso's km around Cygnus are well placed for imaging at some point in the night between now and early December, which is great when you are only averaging three or four clear nights a month.
@darkrangersinc6 ай бұрын
Yeah 53 is pretty far north but even for that latitude Cygnus gets up fairly high fortunately and has so many options!

Welcome to VT! Tonight is going to an awesome night for it!
@darkrangersinc6 ай бұрын
Yeah, I land around 9:30 PM so unfortunately, we won’t be able to get anything set up tonight but I’ll be there for the weekend and leaving Monday. Does look like it might be a little cloudy but as long as we can get everything physically installed it should be ready to go for the new moon. I figured if you’re going to waste a night or two transitioning might not do it during the full moon.
@MrMrduke19756 ай бұрын
@@darkrangersinc lol! I know! Welcome to VT. VT says “oh you want a clear night?? Well, you’ll have to do it with a full moon!” It’s a challenge but I’m up for it!

I feel your pain and I live in Sunny Colorado. This year and last was a total bust for Galaxy season. Actually, got SOME stuff done, this year, but never able to make it out to the dark sky site a couple hours away as every moonless weekend was overcast, snowing or raining.

Don't tell me...here in the northern part of Italy the weather sucks...for my last nice pictures I took as a newbie in this field I had to spend some nights in southern Austria...and it dates back to January...that was worh my Samyang 135 f/2 qnd my Fuji XE3...as soon as i bought my very first refractor (sky watcher Evolux 62)...there where clouds and rain all over since then ( in addition to a bortle 6 sky ...) how frustrating is that..😢
