Warning ‼️this is not a how-to diy video
Video split into two parts to fit insta, also apologies for the dodgy audio at the beginning (faulty audio equipment)
In this video I show the process (mainly for clients) how we repair rotten timbers without the stress, upheaval and most of
all the extensive costs of replacing rotten timber.
The ends of this table had rotted away from this gable on a recent job I was tasked to do. On further inspection it seems that water ingress from the back along with the gable being south-south easterly facing it gets a fair bit of exposure to the sun. All this has taken it toll on this beautiful house over time. Whilst the scaffolding was up it was the perfect opportunity to do some quality repairs that would last for years to come.
These repairs can be carried out on a ladder (although I wouldn’t advise it), as I wouldn’t fancy gripping with the knees and doing the “nervous whistle” whilst attempting quality repairs that need two hands and multiple tools
On this particular occasion I use @repair_care_international_uk , there are other resin brands available. The main two being repaircare and @timbabuild . I explain the main difference for me in the video. I flip between both for various reasons (as I’m not tied or affiliated to either).
As you can see this repair process leaves a lasting quality finish. Ideally hardwood would be used but it’s not always possible due to job spec, expenses and readily available products whilst the scaffold is on hire for a set time.
