Can asystole cause permanent damage to the heart in any way after the person is brought back? If so, does this always happen or does it depend on the circumstances?

@@udaybiradar357 yeah from my understanding it mainly pertains to the fact that there is literally 0 electrical activity if any in the heart that pertains to attempts to perfuse. from my understanding, it would be pretty damaging to your nervous system.

This is wrong. Asystole is a non-shockable rhythm therefore, no attempts at defibrillation should be made. Defibrillation would actually make it harder to restart the heart. There is absolutely no electrical activity in the heart so delivering a shock is a waste of time. Simply continue with uninterrupted CPR and administer medications and ventilation simultaneously.

I don't think the video mentions that asystole should be shocked? but merely that the rhythm should be monitored with all hands off before knowing it is asystole just in case there is something shockable
