What about drawing everything on separate layers in Procreate first??? Then pull into Dreams for animation??? Like the name… Procreate… Dreams…. implies???

Good tutorial. Enough shown to get going and to realise it convoluted crap. Tracks?, layers?, can't specify length of frame (length 1 or whole project). The fact that the length of project is specified at the start. Can't play from flip book, each frame in flip book can have different number of layers, can only see 1 track in flip book. An absolute nightmare. Recording movement is the only decent thing about this app and they built a lot of below par animation features around that feature thinking people would go wow. Toonsquid, Callipeg, flipaclip and rough animator feel like a dream to work with compared to this.

Thanks for watching! I just created a video comparing Procreate Dreams and Blender Grease Pencil. I have only played around with the demos for ToonSquid, Callipeg, and FlipaClip. I may check out ToonSquid, Callipeg, and Rough Animator to see which works best for me; however, I probably won't bother with FlipaClip since it is a subscription-only app. Thanks for suggesting those!

I probably wouldn't say complicated, but I don't like working in it as much as a do a program with a mouse and keyboard, like Toon Boom or Blender Grease Pencil.

I bought Toon Boom several years ago, so I feel like paying the perpetual license upgrade each year is better than the subscription model; however, if someone is just starting out, I would would probably recommend Blender Grease Pencil (free) or Moho, which is reasonably priced and has a very passionate development team. If you are strictly doing frame by frame animation, Krita is also a good free choice.
