This is a good tutorial! Even though my pencil lost weight sensitivity, I still followed along. Although my coloring was not as good as yours, it was still cool! The colors on KZbin look a lot different than the colors in the application, I guess it's just how KZbin does colors. Thanks!

I’ve been having a tough time when selecting a section in 1st layer (1st step in this tutorial), then selecting the second layer to ad color, the color is added in the first layer, not on second layer. Help!
@masoudqazen8882 Жыл бұрын
I’ve been following step by step and I am doing something wrong. When selecting from 1st layer and going to 2nd layer, it gets deselected, hence, color is added in the 1st layer, which is what I do not want.

@@JamesJulier-Artist is there some sort of setting where I can make the colors stand out more?
@JamesJulier-Artist3 жыл бұрын
The colours I list are the colours I used. The process of filming my screen may have saturated them more, but nevertheless the colours are accurate. You could turn up the saturation of the colours though.
@LadySekhmetDJ3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I've been binge watching your videos, and I love them! The one thing that I notice while following your tutorials that it may be just me, or how I view things, but I feel like using my soft brush exactly like yours, makes it look TOO soft/blurry. It doesn't look as crisp as yours. After I do most of the work, my paintings look like Gaussian blur has been applied too much. The soft brush settings is reset to Procreate's settings, so it should be pretty much exactly what you have. Does your pictures show a lot of soft blurriness? I'm just trying to figure out if it's just how your camera set up is (you mentioned in this that the saturation sometimes needs to be a little tweaked, but I don't think that's it). Keep up the fantastic work!
@KrystleBryson10 ай бұрын
Same. I have the exact same issue!! I use the same brushes and settings, totally different results.

I've done this tutorial once already and it turned out wonderful, but I noticed this time at the beginning you said you used an A4 canvas, but yours appears to be landscape and mine looks Portrait? I'm going to use a different canvas, but wanted to ask if I was looking at it wrong?

It doesn’t matter which way around you create it, you can rotate it to suit

Light from left and reflection from right...rly?
@JamesJulier-Artist3 жыл бұрын
No that’s not correct, the light is coming from the top right and that why the reflection is top right. The bottom left of the Iris is hit by the light and so is illuminated but the top half of the iris I have added shadow as if there is an eyelid creating it. I know what I’m teaching, I’ve taught it for years at high school, look at it and you’ll see it looks correct lol
@JamesJulier-Artist3 жыл бұрын
It’s very similar to the way a water droplet looks on a surface, it seems backwards logic, but do some research and you’ll see that both the shadow and the reflection collide in the same area 😉
