these kids have amazing skills and talent! grats to their coach!
@ProdigyBowlersTour7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Although to be fair, I can't claim much credit for Logan and Charlie. Logan works mainly with his dad (who, interestingly, is not a bowler). And Charlie has a coach that he goes to see. I've worked with Christian for a while now, and as I mentioned in the Coach's Clicker segment, he remains a "work in progress." But he's a good kid and loves the game (heck, he LIVES FOR THE GAME!), so I'm confident that we will see him reach his full potential over time.

Kyah Rose - Thanks, Kyah. That's my hope, too. The pin (wood grain, not gold) was my idea as a way to give these kids something tangible to play for. It's on order and as soon as it arrives, we'll include a "signing ceremony" at the conclusion of future shows. Thanks for watching.

I'm noticing that Charlie has a slight hitch in his swing when going for the 10 pin. I'm thinking its from trying to aim the ball to the 10 instead of trusting his shot.
@ProdigyBowlersTour7 жыл бұрын
I'll hold off judgment on that for now. I learned two Saturdays ago that Charlie's equipment doesn't fit him. He's outgrown the span by quite a lot. And his urethane ball -- the one he uses to shoot at 10 pins -- is the worst. Based on how his hand lays on the ball, it almost looks as if it's drilled as a conventional grip (it's not, it's fingertip). This sort of thing happens with kids, especially around this age. They tend to grow in spurts. Christian (who's about a year younger than Charlie) had the same thing happen last year. Before you knew it, some new equipment we'd had drilled up for him was already useless, as he'd outgrown the span in a short period of time. Last Saturday (1/21/2017) as we were taping the show, he informed me that he had a whole new arsenal drilled up and waiting for him to pick it up at a pro shop across town. So I expect to see him with a brand new arsenal THAT FITS HIS HAND this Saturday. I fully anticipate that some of these problems we've been seeing with his spare shooting will be cleared up simply by him having equipment that fits his hand and that he doesn't have to SQUEEZE just to hold on to. I'll give him a couple of weeks to adapt to the new fitting before I draw too many conclusions about this. I know this much: If the equipment doesn't fit (and a span that's MUCH too short is a big, big problem), then it can cause other problems. I want to see if some of this clears up just by him having equipment that fits properly.

Logan is pretty good on my opinion
@ProdigyBowlersTour7 жыл бұрын
He's very good, indeed. He's really stepped up and jettisoned his game forward a few big steps in just the last six or eight months. But don't short change Charlie. The two of them are consistently among the top U15 Boys in the state of Georgia. Until this year, Charlie pretty consistently got the better of Logan in the various tournaments in which they competed. But over the Summer, Logan stepped it up and now he's pulled basically even, and maybe even passed Charlie by a nose. But as this past weekend's Junior Gold qualifier proved, Charlie still is capable of stepping up and winning, as he fended off Logan's challenge in Sunday's Georgia Youth Bowlers Tour event (as mentioned in the closing moments of this webcast). I'd say the two of them are neck-and-neck. And once Christian pulls out of the little slump he's fighting through, he could be right there with them. And there's another one in our ranks (not in this particular webcast, however) named Brandon. "Little B," as he's affectionately known, still is a little ways behind Logan and Charlie, but this is only his second full season of league bowling and he's already averaging in the 190s (on a house shot in league) and has had some nice showings in the GYBT events on sport patterns. He has made remarkable progress in a very short period of time, and still has plenty of room for improvement. All three of four of them are dedicated to the game, and I have no doubt that in about ten or twelve years, you'll be hearing from at least one or two of them should they decide to pursue professional bowling. Some of them certainly have that kind of potential.

You're very fortunate to live somewhere that there's such a thing as "high school bowling." Bowling hasn't come to high schools here in Georgia yet. There are those of us in the bowling community who are trying to push in that direction. But it hasn't happened yet. I suspect it will...eventually. Hope so, anyway.
@jsweebles21507 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm glad we have one, many schools near us don't have a team. It would be great tho if it became more common of a sport in schools tho. Anyways I wish all of the bowlers luck :)

My high school had many interested bowlers, but there wasnt a league, or the school wasnt part of a league system, so we just intramural, wish I had some kind of competitive support as these juniors have in my area. I was avg 175 at 16 without coaching. Just learned on my own by watching and analyzing the mechanics of the sport (just like I do to everything everyday, an sport). Just wished I had more support back then. I older now and just moved to Orlando and the bowling scene is crazy hear, all kinds of junior, high school and college competition. Im depressed now lol

THE LOGAN'S STYLE IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE HALL OF FAME AMLETO MONACELLI. VERY EFFECTIVE !.... REALLY A PRODIGY
@LuchoVena7 жыл бұрын
umm no....what part? coz Ive followed Amleto (compatriot) and Logan's technique has too many differences imo Amleto hops into a slide (Logan doesnt) Amleto walks to the left way too much for many people's comfort (Loga doesnt) his backswing are nothing alike, Amleto corks/twists the ball at the top, makes a bit of a figure 8, Logan keeps it straight Amleto's hand is mostly under and behind the ball, Logan's above the ball and seems to be improving it by lowering each video I see. Perhaps the ONLY similarity might be the elbow snap. I dont see anything else. Not to undermine Longa's technique, his is still very refined and getting better. Each bowler has their own style

yuigoh mac - We've had two-handers on the show. Check our archive. Mikey is our best two hander (I caught him on video taking a run at perfection the very first game of the season). And in our Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout, we had TWO two-handers make the show, both from our younger group of kids (two brothers, by the way). They're young, but full of potential. I think you'll agree that the older of the two, 10 year old Trishul, already is showing some very promising signs despite the fact that he is still throwing a house ball. Go watch. I think you'll enjoy. ;-)

We have one in our Junior Varsity league (the little kids). She had a hard time lugging the ball up swinging it at her side. She has become pretty accurate with pushing it forward, like a basketball pass. She's only 6, so she has a long ways to go. But as soon as she learned how to do it this way (and keep the ball on the lane more consistently), her outlook toward bowling picked up greatly in a big hurry. :-)

The carry at this house is notoriously challenging. The gutters are set at maximum allowable depth, and the sideboards are not especially lively. If you can carry at Roswell, you can carry anywhere. Every time I bowl somewhere else, I swear these other houses are using light pins, as they just seem to fly around. Not so at BZ Roswell. Getting to the pocket (at least when the house shot is fresh) isn't a problem. Carrying is.

Being a power player doesn't get you that far? Really? Tell that to Jason Belmonte or just about any other top pro in the PBA. That's a most curious (and mostly incorrect) assertion. That said, I will acknowledge that accuracy remains the biggest part of the game. Especially when it comes to spare shooting. All the power in the world won't help you if you can't hit what you're looking at. But to say that power doesn't get you that far is simply wrong.

Usually at about 4 AM. For the record, after having done (PGA TOUR golf) play-by-play for a living a number of years ago, I can tell you it's never been my intent to draw attention to myself or try to be the center of attention on these webcasts.
