Omg!! I just watched your video about legal studies when u recently graduated, and in the comments, you told someone you work at a law firm full time, so law school isn't in your short-term goal. 3 years down here you are heading to law school!!! Omg! Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 🍻

Congratulations Rachel!!!!!!! I am so excited for you!! Thank you for being so transparent and sharing your journey with us. I’d appreciate you going into LORs and your experience asking for those from college professors as a gap year/nontrad student several years removed from school - I’m in the same boat Cal 2020 grad lol and very anxious to reach back out and ask. I’d also appreciate any advice you have on the PS and other written components of the process. How much time did you realistically need to write those? Any tips? Congrats again 🎉🎉🎉❤️

Thank youuuu!! I can definitely make a video talking about LOR and PS advice. I would reach out to those professors in like mid/late July just reintroducing yourself, reminding them who you are/what classes you took with them, then ask if they would be able to write a LOR. A simple email would suffice, then they would usually tell you their instructions/materials they need you to send them. Then, since the applications aren't open yet, I would reach back out once they do with any of the materials they requested and then offer a date that you are trying to submit your apps by! Some might ask for a draft PS, so you would need that on hand. I started working on my essays in like late July, then finished everything in December. Had some vacations in there so it slowed down working on them. Good luck!!!

@@rachel_linthis is incredibly helpful advice. Honestly I think I’m just anxious to take the first step and ask since it’s been a while. Do LORs in your experience have to be from the same year you apply or can I get them this year if I intend to apply in Fall 2025? Thank you sm again! I woke up to this video upload and it honestly made my day for you! I’m so excited for you Rachel! ❤

Haven't watched your videos for a while so I was surprised that you'd already posted a 'reveal'! Congratulations! I actually had hoped you'd go to UNC over Duke when I watched that NC tour video (iirc you visited Duke in the same trip) because I have a thing for public education...and you ARE going to UNC! Just like Ken Jeong, though for different things (slightly). Kind of hoped you'd become a Terrapin, though. Did you ever consider Maryland over UNC? Well, at least now you can put two Big 'C's on your resume!
@rachel_lin5 ай бұрын
Thank you!! I definitely did consider UMD since I liked their JD/MBA program. However, growing up in Maryland, I’m not sure if I wanted to live in Baltimore. The in-state public school tuition actually ended up being more expensive than some private law school tuitions after the merit scholarships 😅
@joeyp19275 ай бұрын
@@rachel_lin Yes, I've heard that can be true for undergrad scholarships too. Wonder if Berkeley undergrad is still cheaper than going to, say, Brown with scholarships. Although I don't think there's as much merit money in undergrad. Does each law school give its own merit money or is it pooled? Well, College Park is really fun and bustling but I'm sure UNC has some cool spots!

@@joeyp1927 Interestingly, UMD Law is not in College Park but about 40 minutes away in downtown baltimore
