Hi friends, I had an amazing time talking to Amos Heller, Bass player for Taylor Swift and genuinely wonderful player and amazing guy! He welcomed me to his home studio and gave me a tour. He’s humble and talented and I feel very fortunate to be able to meet him and his family! Have a marvelous time watching the video! Please share, like and comment! Many thanks Warren

Another great interview - thanks Warren. Amos Heller's a great player and seems like a really nice person who appreciates what a great gig he's got. 8 years with Taylor is 8 times longer than the average Hollywood relationship. Love seeing all those basses! I'm a big fan of Fender. You can't go wrong with a good P or Jazz. Keep up the great work. Love Produce Like a Pro!

Warren this interview is gold. Amos is one of my favourite bass player but there is not that much about him on the internet. He is so nice guy and he inspired me to leave my "only Fender bass" state of mind and tried that Yamaha BB. It was love at first sight (listen) and now it is my main instrument so I am pretty thankful to him.

Hey Warren, I am an engineer/musician in L.A. I started recording in the mid 80's in Houston on 2" 24 track. I just wanted you to know that I enjoy these interviews as much or more than any other 'industry' media available.. Thanks ..keep up the good work.

An interesting thing to bring up is that while you comment that UK artists sold their take on American music back to America (in terms of the country aspect of it), a lot of that country music that inspired them was founded on old Irish, Scottish and English traditional reels, waltzes and jigs, etc., especially where traditional country music is concerned that came up through the bluegrass-inspired work of early artists in the Appalachian regions. So, the UK sort of discovered their own stuff after we smashed it around for a bit, and then of course smashed it around themselves and sent it back. And that parallels your comment about the LA sound, and being influenced by the production of the music you heard on the radio and working to achieve that. It's almost like a game of Telephone. And then of course you have the music of the south injected into the north in the late 1920s all the way through to the 1960s, especially starting in the Chicago area, with a lot of southern musicians migrating north, specifically blacks. Milt Hinton, for example. His book "Playing the Changes" really was an interesting history on black migration north. The cross-pollenation of music on a regional, national, and international level is staggeringly mind-blowing and so cool when you get down to digging it out.

It's great to hear you guys explore the intersection of gear and creativity - creative and musical choices - as they relate to the bass specifically and what the bass part is doing in a song. I really enjoyed the recent interviews and discussions with drummer/engineers and it's great now to hear from and learn from a bass player - a professional musician who records and plays live! Thanks!

Hey Warren, hope you're doing magnificently well and having a marvellous time. I love all these episodes and i watch all the interviews regularly. Just wanted to add my 2c - i feel like we need a hiphop-centric producer/studio in the mix. I think that could really unlock some new production perspectives for people in other genres and of course be of great value to myself, being a hip hopperino. Cheerio from the South of Australia

Hey Warren, great video as always. You mentioned the different musical scenes in different regions of the U.S. and happened upon Austin, TX. I immediately thought to myself "Snarky Puppy"! If you haven't heard these guys yet, you absolutely should check them out. Some of the best, hardest working musicians I've ever seen. They're pretty much an audiophiles dream band (marvellous). Thanks so much for the awesome content. Keep it up! Cheers.

1:19:52 Somehow the terms 'phase' and 'polarity' came to be commonly confused, even by audio professionals. Warren and Amos know the difference and they glossed it over because they share a common understanding, but for the sake of viewers new to audio I'd like to point out that phase and polarity are in fact very different things, and all budding engineers and musicians would do well to educate themselves on the matter. Plenty of good resources on KZbin! Great interview, Warren, thanks!

i like how the tip toed around the american music industry history and reasons why blues and rock had a hard time in america (early black music) but how british bands were able to repackage (white bands) it and be successful.

Warren, the Noble Preamp Tube DI is high end tune DI Amos showed you. It's a killer DI but I wonder how it compares to the BAE DMP.
@Producelikeapro8 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, sorry now I understand! Haha I think for me the BAE DMP will win, only because it's a Mic Pre with a DI, it has a 1073 Mic Pre in it so you can use it for everything, recording Vocals, Acoustics, Bass, Dtums, you name it! But IF I had many pieces of equipment and only wanted a dedicated Bass DI only then I'm sure the Noble would be AMAZING! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren

But come on.... this much distortion on your interview's audio? :p Keep going and hope to meet you soon! Do you have Chris Le-Kooreman (LA) in your network?
