Hi Friends, to tighten or not too tighten? It really does depend on the genre and the desired effect! I'm currently working on a Joe Perry album at the moment and there is no drum correction at all, same with Ace Frehley and Aerosmith. However with an EDM band that had programmed parts or an artist that wants to add a synthetic tightness it's a great idea! As I like to say, it's horses for courses! Haha Have a marvellous time everyone! Many thanks Warren

I love both Beat Detective and Flex Time....this video shows, what took me five songs of going too far with these tools and harming the vibe, instead of realizing, that just aligning some noticeably off time/feel notes, is the way to go....these are remarkable tools that can give anyone a pro vibe in a short time. I appreciate both of these tools greatly, almost as much as I appreciate these glorious vidz and more over Team PLAP...Thank you.....Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Holidays to you all.....:)

hello Warren thank you for another great video and I was thinking it would be cool if you made a video talking about all the little things you have there in your room and how you have acquired some of them your little props and knick-knacks I have the same thing in my studio which I get crap for a lot for having too much junk but I love all my little knick-knacks and they helped me in my recording and creative process. I'm interested in where you got some of your knick knacks . thanks so much James

Hi Warren, if you would want to mess around with the phases (phase alignement) - would you do it before or after beat detective? Thanks for your great show and best regards from Germany/ Klangfeld Studios. Cheers, Eike
@Producelikeapro7 жыл бұрын
Hi Eike Ebbel Groenewold Great question! I would always creat a playlist of the unedited files first before doing anything. I would then edit the drums the way I wanted, consolidate that and then if you were going to use some kind of plug in to change the phase relation I would create a new playlist so you can always go back. Have a marvellous time recording and mixing many thanks Warren

What's the advantage of this versus quantizing?
@ddrummer18215 жыл бұрын
Warren you've gotten to work with top of the A list especially A list drums. So how close to the grid are the big guys sticking it(Vinnie, Gadd, Sterling, Freese etc.) is it really completely dead on 0.0 ms either side or is there a few milliseconds float?
@borisgamero3045 жыл бұрын
Idk if this question has been asked, but if your only quantizing the close mics, what r u doing with the overheads and/or room mics?

how do you use beat detective on a live track with no click???

Hey Warren, Thanks again for this track. I’m having a fantastic time mixing and adding my production. Is there a way that we can share our mixes with others, while still giving the right attribution to the artist?

Why us beat detective on separate the file. Today you can use the elastic time you can take the groove out with beat detective and use it to time correct the track to another track

Hi Uzi, Yes, you can use elastic audio! Personally I don't like what it does to the audio, however there is no right way or wrong way! Have a marvellous time my friend! Many thanks Warren

Hi Warren, I'm having issues downloading the drum files. I have the guitars, they downloaded fine. But for some reason every tim I click "download anyway" on the warning for google's virus scanning it just reloads the page. I've tried, Firefox, chrome, Internet Explorer and Edge to no avail. Any help appreciated. thanks
@Producelikeapro7 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, I'm sorry you're having issues downloading the files. I just tried it on Safari and it worked first time for me. It does say Google isn't able to scan files that large, which it always does for me. However the download started immediately. Can you email support@producelikeapro.com maybe there's another way we can get you the files? Have a marvellous time my friend! Many thanks Warren
@pyrael6687 жыл бұрын
Thanks warren I'll do that!
@pyrael6687 жыл бұрын
Hi Warren, An update for you. it seems I solved the issue (sort of). I cannot download directly from the link, but I was able to click on the filename (Above the download anyway button) and then save it to my google drive. However, even there I was not able to download the file. What I ended up doing was to install the google drive app on my PC and then synch the file to my PC with the app. It worked, so I have the files, but definitely odd. Anyway, if anyone else has this issue I hope this will help them. Thanks again!

Hi Warren, editing can be fun indeed...But... I wonder about something: With all the sample adds in general, how important is drumrecordingtechniques nowadays?? I mean, a drummer can have 100 snaredrums and can pick up the right one after an few hours of searching and then from a production kind of view the snaredrum almost dissapears in some way at the end.. I have mixed feelings about that... You can almost buy el cheapo drummics, with lets say Behringer c2 overheads and a 8 track cheap recorder, where the mics serve almost like a trigger (signal) and the drumsound is created by samples... (or you can do it with an electronic drumkit second hand = also cheap...) I love all the great fusion drumsounds from the 80s/90s, they are natural and real and people can play whole songs.... You get my point here??? Where is the point of natural sounds nowadays in pop/rock/metal??? Same with voices... The 80s were full of emotional singers without Chers autotune still... Sorry for my long writing, but I hope it helped...Food for thoughts guys...
@drummerjeroensimons7 жыл бұрын
And a tip for drummers to avoid flamming with recordings: Play quarter notes with all the 4 limbs at the same time (1-2-3-4), you also can try 8th notes,triplets, 16ths, etc etc... Next step is volume control : focus on one limb and play it soft, the rest loud,etc....Simplicity works with more difficult drumparts in general ....:) ;)
@Producelikeapro7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeroen, great comment! You're asking how important is performance? It is more important than ever before!! We can spend more time on creativity as a result of being able to get great sounds easier. Have a marvellous time my friend! Many thanks Warren

Jeroen Simons I totally agree! As a drummer too, I find spending time learning the song and the drum parts, getting the take right from start to finish. To me, I’d prefer to spend the time at the drum kit rather than editing, quantising and getting everything “grid” perfect!? I also agree that simplicity does in fact, most of the time, win in the studio. Thanks for the great tip! Love your work!

Hi Cozmovox great comment! It depends on what you’re trying to achieve! If you want their creativity but you are doing an EDM track for instance this is a great tool! There’s definitely no one way to make music!
