Taehyung and Jungkook really shine with their stable vocal and their voice control is excellent, Jin as always shine with his high notes and bright tones and Jimin definitely shne with his unique sultry yet light falsetto vocal..In fact everyone nail the performance, the rap line too did very well.

I completely understand the criticism regarding the synths, backing vocals etc as I agree it would have been awesome to hear a completely stripped-down version. However, despite it not being a conventional Tiny Desk performance, I actually really enjoyed the blend between the band and the electronic elements to the performance. I've been to performances like that before and I just think that it worked really well and they pulled it off. The band almost softened it and the songs were 'smoother' in a way which was relaxing and added to the intended emotions that they portrayed in Spring Day and Save Me.

Thank you so much for this reaction!! I believe the backing track was minimal since there were 2 keyboards. I believe one was doing the special effects synths such as the brass & I even was suspecting if they had vocals programmed in on his board at one or two instances. Either way, I am super grateful! Hope they do a more simple concert on the real Tiny Desk set.

They can control their vocals so perfectly and not a lot of artist can sound this perfect and that’s why people say that it’s autotune or prerecorded but like um NO they have such unique vocals and can control it so well. Hello there! I have to say that, I think it's actually not a "backing track" but they recorded it TWO TIMES(maybe even more) instead, if you go to the BANGTANTV Channel you will see that there, there is another version* of the same performance, they put takes from both performances inside one video, and the audio from them is mixed so it sounds like a backing track when it is actually only the audio lapsing above each other... (my eng sucks, sorry) EDIT: BACKING TRACK IS NOT A BAD THING! IF THERE IS A BRACKING TRACK GOING ON IN THE VIDEO IT IS OKAY. THAT'S A DISCLAIMER FOR THOSE WHO ARE REDING IT RIGHT NOW! :)

The backup vocals is the member itself. Sometimes you have to check the bangtantv channel where they show their performance. They do that because early in the career Korean award show will cut away from their performance to minimize the performance. I recommend you check out their dance practice performance and their practice singing sessions. They would Ad libs in their performance. Also jimin and jk have sing live many time in interviews without music and they sound they are in the CD. They have been accuse of lip sync in Korea before and they always perform live.

It's a great performance, but I'm concerned that non-K-pop fans might negatively compare these rearrangements to truly stripped-down ones by other artists on Tiny Desk and similar shows. I agree that Big Hit deserves criticism for not rearranging the songs enough to be fully stripped down (no synths, backing vocals, and possibly live auto-tune). I don't mean to offend ARMYs since I enjoy BTS and, again, the boys' performances were good here. Their Boy With Luv performance on SNL is still my favorite stripped-down version mainly cuz the band was more prominent even though the above was still present.

well I would say this one was the boys choice too not just the company, and honestly i can’t see them do these same songs any other way especially Save me not spring day too , bc at the end of the day they care more about making a perfect performance rather than following the exact formula of the show , and as i have seen the reaction was more good than negative, bc it’s all come down to having a good enjoyable performance.

@@meib9412 Heya, I don't have much experience with music production either, but I've done a bit of research in the past. I think the synth track is easiest to notice, mostly digital instruments that are played from a track instead of performed by the band. For Dynamite, there's a synth being played live by the keyboardist if you watch his fingers. I don't think he's playing the trumpets though and there's a repeating hand clap track too. Concerning the backing vocals, it's subtle, but I can hear the one Rahim mentioned at 3:19 saying "da-na-na-na" in the background during JK and Jimin's parts. I wasn't sure about live auto-tune, but I assume that most singers have used it for the past decade or so and it's just a part of life. There might or might not be a small amount being used here. Still sounds good though lol.

too bad you seemed to be disappointed when so many other professionals found this performance truly great as the guys vocals were pure for hearing as they actually varied from original songs ... such as Tae (his were totally different in strength) Jimin's higher tones were more noticeable... then RM extra words ... the whole vibe from all the guys. along with arrangement by band on Spring Day in truth varied from original song. sure on instrumental synthesizers with added instruments used thru the key board. I actually found this performance illuminating. The needed vibe right now. I normally come away from your reactions feeling hyped but this one left me feeling sad. New feeling for me from watching you.

I think you are being a bit too sensitive and they have the right to be honest. Many reactors just lie to please the audience... And they clearly enjoyed most of it while they were watching. I want them to be honest. & its why I find it sad he was disappointed when the guys were excited to do the Tiny Desk concert but limited to where & how they could do it. Plus I wrote what was noticed by professionals who have reacted to this video. Some of ones I watched are pros that dissected the performance. Most found arrangement by the band on Spring Day to being sluggish & only redeeming part were the exceptional vocals of the guys. As they sang pure without any of the light auto tune MV making has. So I wasn't being sensitive as you wrote. I was being direct. He straight up stated he was disappointed. I straight let him know I was disappointed in his words. & the mics in Korea are manufactured to enhance mid tones to volumize their reach. Which is different than in western mics. Their focus is different. Auto tuning in higher degree is done in filming for MVs or editing for show events. This was not a remake or film take but a live performance.

I was just disappointed on the fact that they didn't to a typical Tiny Desk setup and rearrangement of their performed songs. Because I am a big Tiny Desk fan. I love them for their pure and naked concept of showing the artists with their music. Just like I stated in the video. I wasn't disappointed in the performance of the boys or the boys themselves. I just expected a typical TinyDesk setup and this just wasn't it. But I'm still thankful for the performance overall.

Even getting permission for this small record store wasn't easy due to regulations within S Korea. Plus use of their home is not done or allowed for security reasons. Tiny Desk knew of the restrictions & were so thankful for what BTS could offer them. I am so happy for the guys getting to do this ...even in the different than norm setting. I addressed your disappointment & highlights of your points you gave. A I wrote I normally come away from from your videos enlightened but on this one • NO. I am still eager to see what you bring next. We will just have to be apart of this particular one. I feel blessed BTS was able to give us this treat.

I don’t think there were any backing vocals in this performance. When one member is doing their part, the other members were singing like backing vocals but there weren’t any vocals pre-recorded as backing vocals. Sure the instrumental was not just the live band but there was a backing track, but not vocals.

How come every time BTS perform, people always try to bring some negative comments when you know if a western artist have a performance half of what BTS does, everyone in the West would lose their sh*t but if it’s BTS is always great performance but....something. BTS is setting the standard and bar higher and higher, from dancing to live vocals. Korean artist already know to bring their game up and I think Western artist knows too that is why it is hard for them to admit it. Asian artist has always been innovative but the western media wants to downplay them or steal their idea from movies to music . Western music Award show is changing eligibility period so BTS will not get nominated. They use them to advertise the shows and get ratings and views. Billboard I’m looking at you. If next year they change it again so dynamite will not get nominated you will lose all credibility. #1 or #2 on billboard 100 five weeks in a row. This week #1 on all 3 billboard chart. The first artist in history not first South Korean group which they use by the way. “ARTIST” as in global do not minimize their achievements. They probably think BTS is a fad but they have been around for 7 years. It is the West that needs to catch up. The media likes to bring people up and bring them down but unfortunately for them BTS made BTS . Please let me know which artist in the world can perform the way BTS does. Remember CNCO- are they still talking? BTS - MIC DROP!
