He began the 2017 season so this is the first time China ( and the rest of the world ) had heard him. Dimash has an 8 octave vocal range. He was classically trained. Turned down an offer to sing at Opera House because he wanted more ability to sing what he wanted no matter the genre.( he has a Michael Jackson cover and a few other artists. He also wrote and starrec in his own mini movie?? " one sky" after you listen to more of his stuff, take the plunge- amazing film. He is multi lingual- think like 8 languages. Same with playing g musical instruments ( I'm sure I will be corrected if wrong by those fans more knowledgeable on him) he calls his fans " dears" very humble and caring person.

Hey Wolli!! Isn't Dimash the bomb!!!?? I would like to recommend that you start at his beginning and catch up. His notoriety started when he filled in for a contestant on a Chinese singing competition. In 2017 he was asked to be a guest contestant on I Am The Singer in China. In the first episode he sings SOS. It totally blew the entire roof off. The expressions on the other contestants' faces...pure gold. You could just see how they were not excited about singing after him. It is a really good show for him. They fell in love with him and he became an overnight sensation. The TV show was a live one and he was overcome by fans that night. The show had to assign him bodyguards because the fans were going batshit crazy for him. With a voice like that you wouldn't expect any less. Anyway, I would ask that you follow the show and see how much he grows and you can see how nice of a person he is. In the 2nd episode his father surprises him. He sings "Opera 2" and he sees his dad when he finishes the song. It's like time stops...he freezes for a bit, then runs off stage to hug his dad. The whole audience just aaaahs. So sweet. On the show he sings some out of this world songs that only he can do. He Dimashifies every song he sings. "All By Myself " is one he totally makes his own. His version of "Hello" is out of this world!! Please make sure to do both of those. The guy can do every genre of music out there. He raps too!!!! Anyway, welcome to the world of Dimash! Jose , I ALWAYS look for your content when there’s a new Dimash reactor because of your accurate portrayal of SOS and its origin. When I googled STARMANIA, I learned that when Johnny Rockforts true love dies in his arms, the song SOS describes his questioning of his own life and by the end of the song in the last 3 words, he’s able to ‘let go’ of his beloved Crystal. Also, the fact that Michael Berg designed the song to feature Daniel Balavoine, his best friend’s vocal range was particularly impressive to me. Then, fast forward to the early 2000’s, Gregory Lamarchell winning the French Star Academy singing competition with his version of SOS who’s story was discovered by Dimash as a teenager and influenced him so much that he learned the song and went to the Star Academy in France and sang it in homage to Gregory Lamarchell which was well received even though it is a raw performance. If u want a full on graph of who has the highest voice/vocals ever from top 10 I would greatly refer them to u #1 being Mitch Grassi he can sing in multiple languages so he’s a polyglot he can speak in multiple languages and sing also in multiple languages, his range varies between bass sounds A1-A7 all the way through till G7 maybe even flawlessly push through H chord with no effort, his vocals let alone is nonexistent he’s an alien hands down, he is the highest male vocalist and female vocalist in the entire industry/world, his breathe and head voice is basically like no one can ever achieve, the sound he mastered with technicality and precision is unbound to any kind, his vocals let alone no one can beat him he’s just that good, his whistle notes is far superior then any other also if not tied with the greats of the females, I mean whatever u say, he most likely has periodt. #2 dimash as u all prolly know his range is bonkers it isn’t mitchs level of course but he is not human also but again he uses more breathy sounds which means more head voice more again breathy sounds that’s how he can pull his voice and start belting and he uses his head voice to maximize its full potential, he also can sing multiple languages so he’s basically a polyglot like mitch, he can do whistle notes also but he has to open his mouth more then mitch has to since he wasn’t born with a light and thin pitch of sound(Larynx) which is ur throat area, pretty much it. Just to name the 2 I’ve watched and listened to just to verbally understand each one the best of their knowledge.

This song is in French. I haven't heard anyone who speaks French say the lyrics were off, so I assume they are correct. Thank you for discovering Dimash and welcome to a beautiful world of music. Dimash is a 28-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1 (B0) - whistle D8 off the piano). That means he hits notes in almost 8 octaves and sings consistently in 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly😅). At least what he has shown us so far. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!). And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time. He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how. Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this. His concert in September 23, 2022 was in his hometown Almaty, it was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, you realize your so wrong. He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to improve his vocal skills. He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing. Not only is he perfect at singing and performing, he's also an incredibly good actor. Check out his music videos. They are amazing. You think I’m exaggerating? No, I don’t think so😄. He sang this song on his digital concert in January 2021 during the pandemic. He had to cancel his tour and did this concert for his Dears/fans. That’s why there was no audiende to be seen or heard. SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione. SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. You definitely are not going to like every song of him. Of course we Dears have our favorites and songs that we don’t love that much, but that’s what makes it so wonderful to be a Dimash fan. He has something for every taste. And honestly, there were songs that I didn’t like that much at first and have now become my favorite songs after listening to them several times. However, Stranger is not one of them. The lyrics are in French. The translation is reasonably good. It's a cover..that's better than the original, by far. Dimash's French pronunciation is significantly better than that of the typical American, but not perfect (his pronunciation of the French 'r' sound is really good; most non-natives aren't that good at it.) Overall, his pronunciation of French seems better to me than his pronunciation of English (which isn't bad.) He occasionally gets the vowel sounds a tad wrong in both languages. Natives should have no problem understanding him perfectly.

SOS is Dimash masterpiece!! SOS is an existentialist song, about ups and downs in life, depression and death, when you feel you don’t belong here. The lights in the back denoting all emotional stages, the wings and final moments before departing to heaven. Dimash is a world class artist from Kazakhstan, turned 28 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Ukrainian/Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. Wolli, I was wondering if you would get around to Dimash. This is a deep never-ending rabbit hole of the most amazing singer God ever put on this earth. In one of his original songs, Stranger, he sings lower notes than most men can and then he sings an F#6 which is the highest soprano note sung in the opera aria from Queen of the Night. He will blow your mind with every song he sings.

I subscribed when you started down the Pentatonix rabbit hole, and I’m glad you found Dimash as well. He is an incredible singer and the only one I know who gives Mitch a “Dimash” slap! Your best bet is to start with the series that brought him to the world stage. It was a singing competition in China called “The Singer” which is a bit different than our usual music competition shows. On the Singer, the co test ants are the best of the best in their genres. Dimash was brought in as a wild card and wasn’t expected to get past the first show. Well he floored them and overnight he gained 600 million fans. He didn’t win the entire show, he placed second, but it was widely believed he didn’t win because he was a foreigner. The next year they changed their way of thinking because so many people were pissed off that he didn’t win the title, and the next year Jesse J won the entire show. Going through the series shows you his range. Just look up “ THE SINGER 2017- DIMASH” and it will play all the songs and behind the scenes snippets. It’s about 1 hour 46 minute# long. Once you get a good grasp of him then there are just so many mind numbing songs, like “Across Endless Dimensions” or “The Stranger” or “Sinfull Passion” or Olympico, just to name a few. I’ll definitely stay for the Pentatonix and Dimash reactions, and I’ve even started spreading your word!

Just FYI: He is Khazakh, now about 28. Stands 6'3". Comes from a very prominent musical family, showing up at every performance. As is customary in his homeland he was raised by his grandparents, who started him in music school when he was 5. He holds a BA & MA, on the path for his Doctorate, so no academic slouch there. He continues voice study every day, usually 3-4 hrs. He says if you cut open his heart you will find music. He's won almost every competition. The one that really started his incredible journey was Slavic Bazaar, where he sang, and won. Then he decided to move to China for a couple of years because he knew there would be lots more people. There was a program in China called "I Am Singer," whose competitors we well-known, established singing stars. Although not yet one of their peers, he got in as a "dark horse," was the first to perform. He sang a French song, "SOS," which is now his calling card. There are many more videos and in each he gets better. Plus, at "Singer" he was only 22, that was in 2017. You can follow his evolution on KZbin. Now he's a grown man. Man, this doesn't even touch his full ability! This is just what we Dears use to INTRODUCE him to people! There is a proper order to meeting Dimash, beginning with SOS. Next is Sinful Passion, Opera 2, Unforgettable Day (make sure it's the live performance at Gakku if you really want your head to explode), and Stranger. From there you can pretty much enjoy it all as you please, though I highly recommend holding off on his pop work until you can really appreciate the multiple facets of his personality. SOS is the song that introduced Dimash to the world and opened many great opportunities and collaborations for him. There are a number of versions of Dimash singing this song, each different but all great. This particular version comes from the live Dimash Digital Show put on during the pandemic after all in-person concerts were cancelled and he had to cut his Arnau Tour short. The song SOS comes from the famous 1978 Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania', which is well known in French-speaking countries, and is a pretty difficult song to sing. In 2017 Dimash received a wild card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant ever at 22 years old and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part in this competition. Although well-known and respected in his homeland Kazakhstan, few in China knew or heard about Dimash before, but with his first song, SOS, Dimash shocked the audience and captured the hearts of over 600 million of viewers overnight, and the rest is history as the saying goes.
