They release a short version only because they still (STILL AFTER ALL THESE YEARS) distrust KZbin. They consider KZbin to be freeloaders for THEIR content. They begrudgingly accept to release a short version for promotion purposes. Also, long versions are SOLD in a deluxe version of the album, with a DVD containing the MVs. It's just the shitty standard in Japan.

Most of what you said, is correct The idea behind the short version is entirely for promotion purposes, nothing more. Avex Group is really strict when it comes to sharing socially and they prefer for the artists to gain popularity by selling rather than sharing it on any social page. So the whole idea is to make a promotion video so people can get hooked up and buy the release to hear the full version (In the end is all about money). It has nothing to do with youtube, to be honest. You can obviously watch many if not most artists release full versions of songs in youtube or any other media, but it will all depend on the agency/label. The same standard pretty much applies to everything else (Music, Games, Series, Etc).

Yeah. For most labels who upload, it took years to have them upload the MVs. I have been trying to listen to Japanese releases for more than 10 years, and for a long time all the big names (like AKB48 or Arashi for example) were quasi impossible to find. Most MVs were uploaded by French fans back then (since all things Japanese were big in France). Not a marketing genius move.

ponyo sajangnim Most likely, their Japanese label is warner bros. And from what i've heard they stream a lot of the music of the groups affiliated with them, and also make huge promoting campaigns. Not sure about the whole copyright topic regarding them though.

le tiede excuse me. Don’t shit on my home country. It’s not a “shitty standard”. They’re strict about copyright issues. Sorry if you’re so used to seeing long versions of songs on KZbin all the time, but it’s how it works in Japan. And don’t get me wrong, I love EXO and Electric Kiss sounds so great in Japanese. But yeah. The policy is just very, very different in Japan. You can’t expect every country to follow the same rules about how their songs are being released and under what restrictions its under.

I don't shit on your country. I love it. Just not crazy about all of it. The reason it's stupid is because having your music video on KZbin is free promotion, and because you get paid for it. SM gets paid for ads when you watch their music videos, they get paid when you watch reactions for their music videos (not the reactor) and they entertain the hype around the globe for their new release. In the early 2000s, J-Pop was bigger than K-Pop in my country (and I assume a good deal of other ones) because of anime. A lot of people of my generation discovered Japanese music through that medium. But most left it by now, and a lot of it is connected to access. It's cool if your music videos can be seen on Japanese television and your music listened to on Japanese radio. But that means that you won't sell abroad. And that's in part why K-Pop is dominating. Access.

Not sure if you've listened to the full The War album but if you enjoyed Monster then I think Forever would be up your alley. I was also reeled into Exo because of Monster and I feel like Forever has a similar grand amazing but badass vibe (both by LDN Noise so yeah) (also with sick rap section omfg) Anyway I'm super happy you reacted to this because you're my favorite reaction channel by far and like 1 of 2 total reaction channels I'm subscribed to. OMG YES! Monster IS my favorite Exo song ever and it was what actually got me to like them. Maybe that's why I freaking loved Forever, i personally think is the best song in The War and deserved to be the tittle track...or at least deserved better. But hey! at least we got a short live stage of it at MMAs (lol i was screaming so hard when the first thing I heard was Jongdae's "you could be my only star"...shit i still cry about this)

In my opinion it would be hard for him to upload videos as to why he doesn't like some EXO songs because some people can't take others' opinions well. He could state a thousand times that his opinions are just OPINIONS but immature fans would probably still label him as a "hater" so I guess that's one reason. As for "constructive criticism" I don't think there's really a purpose for that because it's not like EXO is a rookie group. They have found a huge fan base that enjoys their music, which works for them, so at this point maybe it wouldn't be "constructive criticism" but just him stating what he PERSONALLY would like to see in their music.

Thanks for reacting, PD. I know it's hard to react to Japanese MVs, which is sad because lots of cool stuff. Hopefully you get to do more stuff like this though. EXO released last year their new Japanese single "Bird". Btw, would you consider some of Tohoshinki's Japanese videos too? Avex (the entertainment company handling them in Japan) has started releasing full MVs since their "Jealous" MV. But seriously, thanks. Not so many reactors CNA access the Japanese MV and don't really bother to even mention about it. So I'm glad you're able to do this even if it's like this. Japan is a big music industry that Kpop acts try to get into so it's sad to know a lot of newer fans don't even realize that their groups have releases in Japan that are awesome as well.
