Periodt. They don't go with the trends. They start it and the rest of kpop follows. That is what's good with SM. They never compromise quality to fit with what public wants. That's why classical musicians love reacting to SM artists. Also it's like they make something you never knew you would like. They are the real innovators. Yeah this song is really something special. It's also quite new for NCT style in my opinion, because they went for a very laidback style (that worked out really well for them). The basis of the instrumentals is much more mainstream than usual for NCT, but the approach of using it is really unconventional! I feel normally NCT experiments in composition and instrumentation, but this time they experimented in how to put the sounds together if that makes sense? like the melody and the harmonies and the way they are stacked and intertwined is very new

Happy you liked the production of the song and the song itself! NCT is famous for having songs "out of the ordinary" sound- and production wise. It's what makes them stand out. Sure, it's also the reason why not _everyone_ finds a liking in all of their songs but it's also what their fans love and get excited about whenever a new song drops. But I think more and more people start enjoying their uniqueness. NCT has grown a LOT over the past year and Make a Wish is now the most viewed MV of any SM artist in 24h. Also they got over a million preorders for their new album and broke yet another SM record with it. Their unique sound might be something that people need to get used to but it's what will bring them very high up in the future.

Actually, SM is known to do experimental music/sound. It happens not only to NCT but it started from their seniors since H.O.T, Shinhwa, TVXQ, Super Junior, Shinee, EXO..even SM's girl groups S.E.S, SNSD (Girls Generation), f(x) up to Red Velvet. It was always "different" from the common sound during their own era, but that works for them. By those differences, it made them stand out more, in my opinion that is. So NCT2020 Resonance pt1 features several songs from NCT U, and one song each from WayV, NCT127 and NCT DREAM. In november, the boys will release a second part of the album. In total there will be 4 title tracks, every one of the 23 members will feature in at least one of those. Make a wish is the first title track, from home, the second one, will be released on the 19th of October. Misfit and Deja Vu are track videos, short versions of the songs, to hype up the fanbase and promote the album even better. The whole album is filled with amazing songs, every one of them could habe been a title track. The album itself is the best selling album for sm entertainment. Us nctzens are very proud of our boys.
