This is great for tons of stuff - I wouldn't be caught dead using any of their vocal samples though - that's the one thing you really can't make unique and yours. Or at minimum self-sampled.

At 5:22 you speak about playing the sound in a more melodic way. For the life of me I can't get to play the one sound on different keys on my keyboard. How did you do that? It's not clear in your video. Thanks Trey
@TreyVittetoeMusic6 жыл бұрын
Hey Craig, my apologies if that wasn't clear. Let me give you an example that should get you up and running. Open an instance of Arcade and load the kit in Modular Circuitry called Abundance. There's a cool bass sample loaded on the first key of that kit - it's C2 on your midi keyboard. As you play that note, hold down the note C1 (an octave below on your midi keyboard. It should play the sample an octave up. Then hold down the note just below C1 (B0) and continue playing the bass sample note. You should hear it pitch down 1 semitone. Progress on down the keyboard as you play the bass note, and you should hear that you have full control to pitch the bass note up and down. Essentially, the pitch controller notes are one octave down on your keyboard from the first sample in Arcade. Let me know if that works for you.

Great video. How do I record Arcade into Cubase Pro 11? Thanks
@TreyVittetoeMusic3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Very easy to use with Cubase, just like other software instruments you play it via midi - you can use a midi keyboard or draw in the midi with your mouse.

I'm using Cubase Pro. But to be clear, Output Arcade works with a wide range of Recording programs. You can check their site for details, it is likely that whatever you use will be compatible with Arcade.

Thanks for the video, really helpful :) I have only one problem: I still don't understand how I can change the pitch of the sample. I tried to hold the key and while pressing other keys to play different pitches of the selected part of the sample, but it didn't work for me. Do you know what might be the problem? Thank you in advance
@TreyVittetoeMusic5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! In a few rare instances, some of the samples in Arcade are not pitchable - some of the drum and percussion samples for instance. But with the ones that are, the keys used to pitch are separated in the lower register of keys. Let me give an example for you to try: Open Arcade, open the line called Vintage Synths, and then load the kit called "To the Stars". Play the lowest sample note in the kit on the C2 key. Now play the same key while holding down the F1 key (F below C2). You should hear the sound pitch up. Continue to play the C2 and go down from the F1 to E, Eb, D and so on. You should hear the sample pitch down by scale. If that isn't working for you, something else is happening that I couldn't troubleshoot and you should reach directly out to Output. Good luck with it!

Do you have any suggestions of programs to use if you're just starting out and don't have much to spend?
@MatthewVanceMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hi Trey, thank you for this great video! I'm having a major set back, where I record a sampler into cubase and it's a riff of notes all within one piano key (in this case the 80s drum set). When it records, it shows as just one straight line, instead of a bunch of different notes registering in the midi. During playback, whether I click at 15 seconds in my song, or 23 seconds, or even 24 seconds, the playback loop for my drums start from their beginning as if I began the beat, even though it's supposed to be a few seconds past the recorded beat, one second past the beat etc. I hope this makes sense.. Any help would be immensely appreciated, I can't edit my song right now because of this. My Arcade-sourced drum beat keeps going off the beat when I click around on the track!!

Can I ask what sample rate you're using? I use 88.2 Khz and the sound is struggling over the net. Great video by the way :O)
@TreyVittetoeMusic5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Usually 44.1, but on some projects I go 48. When you say the sound is struggling, do you mean with Arcade in particular? or just in general? Arcade is a bit of a CPU hog, but they've vastly improved the processing since last year when I made this video. But it could cause some problems at a higher sample rate if you're using a slower computer.

Hi! How I can put Arcade in Cubase? I download the vst, but I can´t find him in Cubase. Can someone help me? Thanks
@TreyVittetoeMusic5 жыл бұрын
Hugo, if you have followed the instructions from Output to install it correctly, you should find it under VSTi Instruments. Click "track" and then the dropdown "add track" and look under "synth". You should see it there. If not, make sure it is installed correctly - go to your Studio tab and click VST Plugin Manager. Click on VST Instruments and make sure that you see Arcade in the list. If it's there you should be good to go. Let me know if that doesn't work for you.

do you need to connect a keyboard?
@TreyVittetoeMusic5 жыл бұрын
Lillian Wonpat Technically no, really as long as you’re able to draw in midi notes with your mouse you can use it. I do think you are at an advantage using a keyboard. But since the whole concept for Arcade is sample-based, really all you need to do is download it and start playing with it.

I took it for drive. Was ok. Then the latest update sucks! It crashed my system. Left it running came back 2 hours later and all my output tracks, selected loop or creations bam gone!. Crashed and made Logic Pro x slow slow. Created sound that I never put in the composition, and lots of noise in pro tool, Cubase, and acid next +acid 10. Cannot trust it. Mac was the worst after the march 25 or so update was the worst. Delete output and it works fine again.
