Producing A Multi-Person Interview With An Insta360 Camera At The Rosewood Hotel at Baha Mar Bahamas

I enjoy using 360 cameras, but have never tried producing a multi-person interview with a single camera. So, during a trip to Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas, I had assistance from my friends Katya and Siren to see if we could accomplish this task with an Insta360 One RS One Inch sensor model and Saramonic's Blink 500 B8, four microphone system. There was quite a bit of background noise in this setting, and, as you can hear in the video, the microphones assisted in prioritizing the voice over the background.

This is exactly what I was thinking was possible with a 360 camera. Thanks for doing this. Audio I was thinking of doing wired Lav mics or Boom mics to a Zoom H6. I may not have known participants to clip a mic to, as I plan on doing street interviews with multiple people.

How did you postprocess the recording - especially regarding lens distortion

I don't use the lens guards and simply process in the Insta desktop app then finalize in Final Cut Pro.

@@TheGadgetGuru It woudl be real interesting if, in edit, the edit app understood 360 and reframing, but the ability to "cut" between two people as if it was two cameras, or any number of crops from the spherical recording. As opposed to panning back and forth.

@@IEBATechThoughts I absolutely agree! The Insta360 desktop app doesn't include a razor blade for cutting between shots. However, the IOS app has a similar feature, but it's more designed to remove unwanted footage. The post for this video was done in FCPX and there's a way to do cuts in that program, but it's a bit complicated if you start your edit in the Insta360 app. One way to do that is to process the video in separate angles and then, edit in post. I'll be doing more this week and will try some new techniques. And, as a FYI, I'm looking forward to getting started with my YoloBox Pro. I need to finish one more Mevo video before jumping into that one.

huh, that saramonic set is enticing...I had a 2 person xlr kit from them that makes me wary but still....4 person setup...

Nice to see you back Andrew. Been missing your videos. Was hoping to see you back in an RV. Did you give that up forever or is there another one in the future? I'm still using my Zoom Hi but a wireless mic sure would be more convenient.

@@TheGadgetGuru That must be the one down at the Riverlandings Motorcoach Resort. Andrew Steele had done quite a few videos around that place.. BTW, I had to chuckle seeing that airstreem TT in the background at that resort in the Bahamas :-) I'm not a real PREVOST fan but it's in the top three along with FORETRAVEL and NEWELL but I have to admit the Prevost Liberty has the very best body work and paint jobs.
