Im a perfectionist as well, any tips on writing songs?? the closer I get to finishing a song, the more I dislike it
@itsamandarenee4 жыл бұрын
Really?! I felt similar when I first started writing songs. I've heard a lot of professionals say you have to write 50 bad songs to get to that 1 hit lol. What I found works better for me is coming up with lyrics and melody before I even think about creating the music. Once I have a melody I like, then I'll begin to produce the track after. I also have expanded the genres of music I listen to and have gotten inspiration from that. Everybody is different though! Everyone has their own unique process. It'll take some time to find yours :) DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED. Keep writing!! You'll find that you'll keep improving as you write more and more.

You must be like me, takes me 6+ months to produce one song. (Write lyrics: in a few days, after about a month, make the beat, then I have to wait for the perfect time to record (when nobody is home, and it's only me, usually about 3 months wait), then mix. then master. yeahh. also, I like to perfect things.. .so uhh yeah.

Debbie Gibson is known for writing songs in 15 mins. If you aren't familar with her please look her up. Her famous #1 hit Lost in your eyes was written in 15 mins. She started writing and producing when she was 11-12 years old in early 1980's. Her first 2 albums were solely written by her then she started collaborating with other writers.

the reason people create songs in 15 minutes well lets say arrange songs in 15 Minute is because of all the loop and instrument plugins out there that are already mixed all YOU had to do was get them mixed together. I fail at the challenge because I'm a single artist who makes music with real instruments. Real drums real acoustic and electric guitars. Plugin bass and piano played on a midi keyboard. and vocals that I comp to perfection. then I add effects, EQ and Compress and master. Once I am ready to record it takes several days to complete. Pesty kids and other distractions hinder my quick production. My song is 4:00 minutes long. I have 14 tracks. do the math. With no interruptions is an hour if I play each track perfectly, and I use Studio One which is the DAW with the fastest workflow. That is before adding effect EQ and Other Mixing and finally mastering.

Maybe that's the reason the pop song is all like shit these years, pros seeking inspiration for 2-3 month with true stories and feelings, and finish the song with another 2-3 month with arrangement, instruments recording, vocal, and for the time they have spent, the non-pros have already finish a album. Thanks for The Big Internet Data Age, every non-pros they now have chance to learn some basic music and software after they graduate

This is what a lyric generator wrote for me We were both gorgeous when I first saw you. You look out the window and the flashback starts: Holmes Chapel is where I'm standing in the 1st February air. What are you doing with that new lover? Who wears that green scarf, When I wear a curly Chelsea boots, Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find That what you're looking for is my beautiful eyes. So this is me staring, Standing in front of you saying, "I need you!" And I go back to 1st February all the time. It turns out freedom ain't nothing but laughing elegantly, Wishing I'd realised you've changed me for good. I'd go back to 1st February, turn around and do some finding. I go back to 1st February quite often. Honey, let's do some lieing, This love is handsome but it's kind. It's a love story, honey, Just be my generous owl. We are never ever ever going to try diying emotionally together, We are never ever ever going to try diying emotionally together, You go talk to your buddy, talk to my mate, talk to me, But we are never ever ever ever going to try diying emotionally together, Just smiling carefully forever. I need you honey, I need you.

The instances where people write 'meaningful' songs in 15-30 minutes are few and far between. Sure, I could put together a beat with background instruments, write a quick melody and knock it all out in about an hour but it's just *music*, it's not a song. I know that sounds corny but that's seriously how I feel about it. I've had maybe 1 or 2 songs in the past come to me in lightening speed but again, those instances are few and far between.
