Recently, a zipper gave out on a waist pack that I wore pretty regularly. HPG customer service was really helpful and prompt with helping me replace that pack. The replacement waist pack was obviously newer than my previous pack and came with a beefier zipper for the main pouch. The same pouch I find myself using most when wearing the pack. I think the decision to upgrade the zipper makes this the best edc/ ccw waist pack I have come across. The design and materials used can’t be beat. I have tried a lot “dude fanny packs” out there but keep coming back to this pack.

That outermost velcro molle compartment is more optimal for storing a pistol and it looks like it can be drawn faster, just attach a pull tab on those loops inside.

I'd like to see a 2 in 1 version of this, convertible between belt pack and kit bag, something simple as buckles to remove/attach the belt, because I don't want or need two bag's, or have to transfer gear from bag to bag when one convertible version would do just fine. Also, how about a conversation kit if you already have a belt pack or kit bag but would like to switch it?
@HillPeopleGear4 жыл бұрын
The strap take offs need to be in very different locations. Trying to do both ends up with neither one being done very well.

Nun Yabiz this is exactly what I would like as well. With how customizable hill people gear is I am surprised they didn’t do this... I’m sure they have their reason but it is disappointing. I plan on getting a snub by kit bag original pattern and using the straps to make it act like a fanny pack.
@MushindoToKen4 жыл бұрын
Hill People Gear i was planning on buying a snub by kit original pattern and just adding a strap to make it a fanny pack. You mentioned this wasn’t a good idea? Can you elBorate why this wouldn’t work? Cause I was planning on buying a kit bag for this exact purpose. If not is there a way to use the belt kit with lifter straps make it like a chest bag?

If you want to cheap out then buy the 5.11 LV6. If you want a fantastic product for both options then buy the HPG waist pack AND a snubby (or larger) kitbag. I have all these options and use them regularly and feel I know what I’m talking about. The 5.11 is a compromise- the HPG is a non negotiable mission specific and VERY reliable piece of kit 👍🏻

On #3 of these so far and counting... HPG did good again here with this one, and l actually prefer it to be a dedicated waist bag and rather than convertible. Quite a bit of organizational capability, not too big, great build quality as always.

I just purchased this pack. It's very nice, and I like that it has 3 compartments. I put everyday stuff in the first two compartments and a P365X in the last/rear section. The size is good, though I wished it were a half inch deeper. One major fatal flaw though. There is a flap that goes over the zipper of that last compartment, and the zipper gets caught on the flap when opening resulting in it getting jammed and not being able to open all the way. This is a major problem if trying to access your firearm. Also, this CCW section just barely fits my P365X, and there really is no more room to put an extra magazine. I like this bag, but part of me feel like I wasted $122 bucks.
@HillPeopleGear Жыл бұрын
The rear zipper flap is what creates a concealed compartment. It is important to stage the zipper pulls on each side of whichever corner is your "draw" corner. That should give you a smooth consistent draw. We don't recommend putting anything but the pistol in the holster compartment -- both for safety and for ease of draw. Spare mags should go in one of the other compartments. We do have a medium size as well if you want something for larger pistols.

I really, and I can't stress this enough, I REALLY wish you would've lined the pistol compartment the same way as the main. I also wish you didn't have the zipper flap on the pistol compartment because mine gets hung up regularly enough that I will not use it for my pistol. So between the lack of usable Velcro and the zipper flap I ended up having to use the main compartment for my pistol, which makes everything else fit weird in the bag. It's dangerous having that flap where it can jam up the zipper. PLEASE change those things!

I wish this was bigger heavy recon kit bag setup and with a 3" strap instead. The 2" digs in a little bit when worn as a shoulder bag. Not asking for a kit bag, I already have two of those. 😂 but a little more carrying capacity for when I use it on the hip, and longer/wider straps when I carry less but have it slung across my chest.
@HillPeopleGear3 жыл бұрын
we initially tried bigger but it was too big. As soon as you're talking about a shoulder bag, that's what our pocket sling is for, paired with the pocket of your choice.
@JP-qn4uo4 жыл бұрын
Looks awesome! Even more awesome would be some sort of adapter system that lets you use the Snubby for both front carry and waist carry. Love HPG stuff!
@HillPeopleGear4 жыл бұрын
doesn't really lend itself to that, as the strap take offs need to be in different places for the two modes of carry.
@mdeamicis Жыл бұрын
It plows my mind that this pack costs 110 bucks, yet the pistol compartment only has a skinny strip of velcro that is insufficient for properly securing a pistol and even one backup mag. There should be 100% velcro coverage on both front and back of this compartment so that you can use a real holster in a velcro sleeve and also a couple oc backup mags in velcro sleeves. Almost every company making bags targeted to ccw miss this. It suck to have to do suck a basic mod on something you send over a hundred bucks on.
@HillPeopleGear Жыл бұрын
We strongly recommend NOT putting a holster inside of the holster. All of our testing since 2010 has shown that a secondary holster greatly impedes the draw stroke. You also don't want to put a magazine in the holster with the pistol. The thin strip of velcro is for folks who think they're going to need to add a holster prior to buying it. After buying, it's very rare for someone to decide they still want a holster inside of the holster. Full velcro is much hotter so we don't add it since it is by in large useless. We do recommend a trigger guard shoe (we sell the Fricke one but there are others) for protecting the trigger of pistols that don't have a manual safety. It ties into the bottom of the bag and pulls free of the pistol during the draw.

I've looked but can't find out how long is the belt on this fanny pack? What waist size is the maximum for this adjustable belt? I'm interested in buying one but need to be sure of the waist size maximum because I am a big dude. Edit 04/16/21 To anyone interested, as to the maximum waist belt size, a Hill People Gear rep stated to me in an email that the max belt length was 54 inches but the HPG Waist Pack I ordered/received extends out to a full 60 inches. And a Glock 19 sized pistol is really the largest pistol that will fit in this pack. Overall, it is WELL worth the money. I love mine.

Really wished you would’ve put an entire wall of velcro in CCW compartment. Having a strip limits mounting a kydex holster. In fact, the PALS velcro in the other compartment should also be in the CCW compartment.
@HillPeopleGear Жыл бұрын
We don't recommend putting a holster inside of the holster. It is unnecessary and slows down the draw. We do sell a kydex trigger shoe that ties into the bottom and pulls off during the draw if you are carrying a pistol without an external safety.

@HillPeopleGear4 жыл бұрын
Nothing short of a welded dry bag is waterproof. All of our bags are highly weather resistant -- 500d cordura that has a waterproof coating on the inside and a DWR treatment on the outside. Water mostly wicks in through stitch lines but I've left a bag sitting on a beach and come back to see it sitting in a tide pool without the contents getting wet.
