Nice to see someone talking about Oj’s. Criminally underrated wheels. Ridden a few Elites, trying the Original formula on some Jordan Taylor 54’s.

Thanks for this! You answered what I was looking for. These wheels appeal to me because of the shape, but I needed to know about skating them reverse (conical inside). I’m in a the middle of some wheel madness currently and the mini combo seems like it’s a god option to solve my problem. I skate street mostly, lots of flip tricks and ledge tricks and I ride a bigger board (black label spider egg 9.0) and I like spitfire classics and even the ok ez edge a lot, but I find them a bit tippy feeling because they are narrower wheels and have a smaller riding surface. But they feels so good for flip tricks. I found myself hating the conical fulls because of the straighter outer edge specifically, it really screws with how I do a lot of flip tricks. But the conical edge is awesome for locking in grinds. So hopefully this is where the mini combo will shine giving me to best if both worlds. If you have any advice or recommendations on what wheels to give a shot, feel free. I ride 53-55mm, prefer the rounded edge but want a wheel width of 33-35mm but also a riding surface of probably 19-21mm. At least that’s what I think based on what I’ve tried and have been looking into. Spitfire radials seems like a good option as well, but after trying to elite 101 ojs, I really like it compared to the f4 99. Haven’t tried and f4 101 yet. Sorry that’s so long, but thanks for the info. It’s greatly appreciated!

Glad you enjoyed the episode and thanks for the comment. Based on your comment, I think the OJ mini combos would be good fit for you - like everything else in skateboarding; everyone enjoys different things for different reasons. Speaking for my experience, I haven’t had any disappointment with the mini combos, but I do like a wider riding surface and a wheel I trust to lock in.

@@TheSoreLosersShow Hey, thanks for the reply! I did pickup some 53mm Mini Combos and I really like them. I also picked up a pair of Spitfire OG Classics in 53 as well. The OG Classic shape seems to be working really well for me since it's a narrower wheel but has a very wide riding surface considering its overall width. BUT the OJ Elite Urethane just kicks ass. I don't know if it's just that it's 101 vs the spitfires which are 99 but those mini combos ride so awesome. Anyway, thanks for your input and advice!

Benn a fan of your channel for a year now since I got back in to skating at 50 years old.😅 So much has changed..! But lot has stayed the same. Now I been skate for about 1year now and been on a wheel quest to trying to find a wheel that will side like OJ Street Razors/ Bullet 66..! The closest I found was BONES stf 99a.. and as you are a older skater.. I was wondering if you have any tips as you should know what I am talking about.. Love the channel.. and those AIRWALKS .. keep up the content

@@johnmicallef3502 Hi and thanks for the support and kind words. Wheels are really a tricky one, especially when it comes to the changes in formulas over the years. I haven’t tried the current versions yet and don’t know if the formula is the original but Cockroach Wheels are back in business, and from memory they slid very close to the Bullets back in the day. I’m looking at having a ride of the OJ from Concentrate wheels - 99a with a lower price point. Keep an eye out for the Product Check. Hope this helps ✌️

@@johnmicallef3502 thanks for the tips. I guess it’s the right tool for the job kind of situation when it comes to wheels. I’ve been wanting to try the X formula from bones for a while so maybe this’ll be my next testers. Cheers for the support.

I got some Ricta Clouds recently and they work Really Good on the Street or Skatepark....I was surprised, they were comfortable & smooth on the Street. I really liked them...55mm, I measured because they were used...Damn good skate clips at the END

Thanks for the comment and compliment. I really like the clouds for street but found it took a minute to get used to them at skateparks.

Has anyone rode the oj concentrate wheels?
@TheSoreLosersShow6 ай бұрын
I personally haven’t yet. The price point seems good but I really like the Elite formula and know that the Concentrates are a different formula. At a guess, it’d probably be like going from a Spitfire F4 to Classic. Thanks for the question.

I have some oj wheels, not sure if they are elites but I would guess not. I like the shape and ride, but the edge kinda chunks/shreds out a bit, similar to what I experienced with bones stf. I also have some bullet wheels from the ‘90s, and oj2 from the ‘80s that I quite like. Been liking the bones x97 56mm v6 shape. I tend to like wider wheels with a rounded edge, maybe like a spitfire radial or classic full. The v6 is kinda like that, maybe a bit smaller radius on the edge, but sidecut like a conical.

Thanks for the comment. Are you liking the Bones X formula?

@@TheSoreLosersShow yes, very smooth and comfortable ride. they're on one of my setups that isn't one of my mains, so i can't say i've ridden them enough to give a full review but my first impressions were good and as of yet i have no complaints.

I was really loving oj wheels for a while but went back to spitfire and i think I’ll just stick to spitfire they feel better then oj tbh and I’m riding the spitfire radial fulls 56mm 97a and I love them

Thanks for the input. I’ll have to check out some Spitfires again at some stage and do a little side-by-side test.

Little bit of both to be honest. I actually went through a few more sets of old wheels after recording the episode and found it’s universal damage to all brands of wheels that I’ve ridden at those curbs.
