This is definitely one of the best product talks I have seen in a very very very long time.

People topics 00:04:20 As a PM, what do I actually get to decide? 00:11:28 I'm in meetings all day long and finding no time to work. 00:15:06 We can't find enough engineers or designers locally. 00:17:39 We want diversity on our team, but we get so few resumes Process topics 00:22:28 Why haven't I seen the term "Dual-Track" much? 00:24:23 My engineers think Dual-Track is really just Waterfall. 00:29:41 Why isn't conventional (aka "Single Track") Agile sufficient? 00:36:40 My engineers just want to build. 00:39:30 We're in a regulated industry; how can we do experiments? Product topics 00:41:44 Our execs are addicted to roadmaps 00:47:02 Jared Spool says everyone is a designer. WTF? 00:51:32 Our technical debt has overwhelmed us. ... I'll add more when I have some time.

This should be required viewing- not just for PMs, but for the orgs that call themselves Agile while really forcing us into waterfall in 2-week sprints. Agilefall, if you will.

15:09 I would like to know Marty's opinion today after everyone in tech business is working out of the facility. It's maybe not visible yet, but according to me the co-location vs. distributed teams efficiency is not so different. Of course, depends on people in the team, however, I'm sure that the same amazing teams that were able to deliver a valuable products are still capable to do that from their own homes.

I thought the same as you. Even though I’m a strong advocate for remote working, I can see a strong benefit on co-located teams, but it depends on the people’s preferred style of working, as well as the overall environment design

Marty Cagan is a wonderful speaker and author. However, I would suggest that contractors/freelancers are painted in a bad light. Coming from a design background, I know that often an external designer can be as passionate as an internal team member, if you include them as a team member. Plus, they can often bring in broad experience. The only significant downside is that for some products there is a learning and sometimes that can be very steep.
