Product photography: How to make a perfect white background

In this video I am gonna show two techniques how to lit a product to get a nice wrapping white background. Useful for eBay or for any e-comm photos.

I quite enjoy the sense of presence and realism I get from the side lit images. It may not be as purely focused on the product as the top lit products, where the environment and shadows are basically eliminated, but the side lighting introduces a sense of scale and depth that makes it very realistic while still maintaining an exceptionally clean aesthetic. That said, I feel like the side lit shots will work better with a slightly more grainy/textured surface, like a dense paper, and with a rich and vibrant color, or very slightly off-white shade. I’ll have to play around with this myself, excellent video!

Always shot in raw, keep the AWB and then balance within the computer software (Lightroom or Photoshop), using a grey card or you can even use the white backdrop.
