The best ones are from a company in Germany, project camper.de. They make them for Westies and many other camper buses. The cool thing is they are magnetic so know fussing around with suction cups that always come off. Great quality.

During colder months shiny facing inside to reflect heat in. Shiny facing out in warmer months to reflect heat away.

Got small bungee cords and self adhesive picture hooks to go on the door and window above the sink and leftScreens on being at their old and brittle didn’t wanna take a chance to take those on and off and the replacements are like $79

Good call. We are going to try to sew in magnets in a ribbon of fabric outside of the covers and eliminate the suction cups all together. nate

They do look like a lot of work. Magnets would be a little easier but with that many windows there isn’t much you can do. Quality looks decent. The lite barrier is a great Bennie.

Yes they were. We have since put magnets in the edging and removed the suction cups. They work tons better but not perfect. Nate

Just returned from a freezing (by UK standards) camping trip for a week in the Isle of Wight and we talked about getting these. So much heat comes from the early morning sun and I think we might lose that. The windscreen one would be good as our daughter sleeps across the front seats and it's cold even with the Autosleepers curtains. Useful review - thanks. 'Liked'.

The solution to the early morning sun is to wake up before sunrise and take down a few covers :) Nancy and I dream of taking our Westy (or renting a van) and traveling around the UK. After the twins go off to college we may just do that! nate

So after a couple winters what do you think now? Do you grab them every trip in the cold?
@ThatBaldwinLife Жыл бұрын
Good question. We grab them for every cold trip now. We recently replaced the suction cups with magnets in the edging of the covers. We show this a bit in our last snow camping video. The suction cups ended up flattening out and did stay on the windows very well. We may do an update video to show this in more detail. nate

Two years later would you say these are worth it? My diesel heater super warm.. those seem pretty bulky too..do you still use these?
@ThatBaldwinLife Жыл бұрын
Yep we still use them all the time. We added magnets to edges and ditched the suction cups. Easier to use now. Nate

Yo Baldwins, I put long thin rare earth magnets in those as I hated the suction cup marks. Just put a small slit in the bead and work them in
@ThatBaldwinLife3 жыл бұрын
The suction cups are kind of a pain and they do leave those pesky marks. I thought about magnets too but didn't think about putting them into the seam. I will look into that, thanks for the idea! nate

@@ThatBaldwinLife smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N1R7HP6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - these are the magnets - then I used plugs for the hole. I don't know how to make a private conversation with you so ....

Keep a microfiber towel on board and use it to wipe off the insulated covers before rolling them up.. Great video, thanks!

That's a great idea Dave. We need something like that to wipe down the windows after we take the covers off anyway. nate

I was just looking at those tonight and am grateful for your review. What was that you used to insulate the pop-up? Also, do you work on Westy's? If so, I live in PDX & just bought a white 1987 westy and need to find someone to help me with some things because my mechanic only works the automotive side of things, not installing upgrades.
@ThatBaldwinLife3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristina, we use a home made Relfectix insulation kit for the tent. We show how it goes together in our Painted Hills video if you wanna check that out. I do all of my own work on the van but don't usually do work for others unless they are in a pickle. Crooked Finger Designs in Bend do many upgrades to Westys but they are a bit far away. nate

I’ve looked at them, & they look like there a really good quality. I live in Australia, & I think they would def help in the summer also 👍

We were thinking the same thing about blocking the sun in summer camping. nate

They look great but would rather have them attached with magnets. Suction cups look like too much of a hassle. Thanks for the review
@ThatBaldwinLife3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. If they were attached with magnets they may be perfect. We are going to look into what Rino mentioned below and insert magnets into the seam. nate
