_______________ Product Review - Tama Classic Cymbal Stand (Stephen Taylor) --
This is a review of one of my favorite pieces of drum gear here in the studio...the Tama Classic Cymbal Stand. It's a flat based stand and has a very small footprint. So portable and great for small stages and studios.

The HH-Stand has become my favorite HH-stand ever. I have Ludwig and Pearl vintage kits and still chose to go with the Tama hardware. good stuff. Thanks for the video.

I really like how low it can go! My DW single brace stands are similar, but don't go as low.

These stands are amazing. They haven't failed me yet and I don't expect them too. Cheers to Tama for extending the line, adding snare/tom stands, a hi hat stand, and a bass drum pedal.

Do these stands hold up for playing rock? I know with them being "Classic Hardware", they're aimed at mainly jazz or just lighter playing in general

I’m on tour with the bronx and joey uses these stands, probably one of the hardest hitting drummer around. He puts 24” rides on them, and uses some weights over the bottom of the stand. They never move, and he hits seriously hard. They look super cool too, just thought I’d say, they can be the perfect touring stands for a heavy hitter too. Gonna get me some ASAP!

Hello Stephen, a question, do you think the stand will resist a ton of 10 or 12, placed low? Thank you and sorry for my bad English.

I love these, as well as the hi-hat and snare/tom stands. My ONLY gripe is with the cymbal and tom stands. There is a rivet underneath the leg span collar that stops you from opening the legs up too much, so the legs are always flat. This makes positioning a little problematic because you can't position legs over or under each other. I ended up taking a nail and hammering the rivet out so I could open the legs more. I couldn't get my left side crash close enough to me because the tom stand legs were in the way and the cymbal stand legs couldn't go over the hi-hat stand legs.

So hammering out the pin didn't damage the stand in any way? I'm considering doing this but am a bit cautious

Hi there! When I checked them out wiht my 16'' crash I realized, that when I choked the crash, the cymbalstand hasn't got enough stability and was very much dangle around. So I gave it back to the store. That was kinda disapointing, because I really liked the compact design and the very little weight of it - only 1,5 kg!!!! And I tried it on my 19'' china. When I did some "heavy" ride-pattern on the lip of the china, the stand was wandering around. Anyway! I think it's a great product (even the price point is great!) for "normal" hitting players...I wish, I would only play "light" music! ;-)

Saw these on Thomann while perusing cymbal stands. Will give them a serious look no, especially since I see how actually tiny they are in your hands.

Eoin Hayes I've had them for months. Never had a single problem ever. They are solid as hell. Plus, you can put two cymbals on one stand because the top tier tube is solid and can fit through a cymbal hole! Check out Louie Bellson or Ginger Baker if you don't know what I'm talking about.

If these cymbal stands have the entire length of all three legs meeting with the floor, wouldn't that mean the "footprint" of these stands is significantly more than a normal stand where only the feet of each leg make contact with the ground? I get why they are called "low profile" because they take up less 3-dimensional space, but who really needs the space directly underneath the cymbal where the arms are braced to the center pole of the stand? These seem like a "throwback marketing" scheme and I'm not really buying into it...

I think the feature comes in handy because often in a small space, if you wanna fit a few stands close to one another you it takes a lot of adjusting because the legs kinda get in the way and stuff. but if you have these (which i think can stand like a tripod too) you can mix and match them so they can slide underneath... well the idea works in my head at least... I've never tried it. hahaha

Super useful if you use a smaller kit where the kick drum is off on a riser, you can get your stands really close. Even If its not on a riser and you just have an 18 inch kick on the floor, you can get these flat base stands in much closer than if you had a normal stand which took up more "three dimensional space" (hence you can get a ride cymbal into position without the need for a boom arm)

Reece Webber The footprint of the cymbal stand is the circumference of all three legs. Not each foot of the stand. All of the room in between each leg. That's the footprint. And this is almost a third of normal stands. To your point...anyone that needs to make the most of a small space. Whether that be a small stage or a smaller room. These stands significantly reduce the are that the drums take up. I think marketing scheme is far fetched...they're a low priced, low footprint option for the gigging drummer. It goes without saying, play what you love. But these are great for those players that need the benefits they provide (low price, smaller kit footprint).
