The one that always sticks with me is Ayds the diet supplement, which were "Lose weight deliciously with the aid of Ayds", “Why take diet pills when you can enjoy Ayds?”, and “Thank goodness for Ayds”.

Fun fact. That was produced by Mego, the company that made all the cool action figures in the 70's and 80's. Marty Abrams, the owner, said he named it that intentionally and ran the ad campaign around it like that simply because he thought it was funny.

My late grandma had an old magazine from 1947 with an advertisement from Penn Salt Chemicals that features anthropomorphic animals, fruits, and a little girl happily chanting, “D-D-T is good for me!”

Unfortunately Ayds had been around for at least 30 years, when AIDS was discovered. I remember one of my uncles using Ayds in 59 and 60 to lose weight. I remember because it was just before his brother Fred was posted to Germany. He teased him about eating candy to lose weight. They actually worked.

All my Uncles are gone as the last one who pulled 30+ years in the Army and Army Reserve passed away last August. He had cancer from chemicals he was exposed to in the late 1960s

I worked at Pizzeria Uno in the early 90s and they had a very short ad campaign for their deep dish pizza with the slogan "We're Talking Deep." The waitstaff had to wear a large button with that slogan on it too. I guess that's relatively tame by today's standards, but the waitstaff was embarrassed. After about a month of that ad campaign, Pizzeria Uno fired its advertising agency.
