I'm 31 and already started to get some high frequency hearing loss. I used earplugs for most of my shooting but now I'll be doubling up. Recently got a few cans so I'll be using that in addition to earpro. Protect your hearing!!!!! It doesn't grow back
@Cautionary_Tale_Harris2 жыл бұрын
Some of that high-frequency loss happens naturally with age.
@davem41932 жыл бұрын
@@Cautionary_Tale_Harris it typically doesn't happen "naturally" because of age, it's mostly because we subject ourselves with more and more loud noise exposure as we age. Other contributing factors can be diabetes, high blood pressure and medications. A while back I read about a health study done on a primitive African tribe who were never subjected to loud noises from power tools, gunfire, etc. They ran hearing tests on the elder men of the tribe and these men who were in their 80's had no significant hearing loss.
@Cautionary_Tale_Harris2 жыл бұрын
@@davem4193 You can disagree if you like, but a teenager can hear frequencies that a 31-year-old cannot.
@davem41932 жыл бұрын
@@Cautionary_Tale_Harris I wasn't disagreeing with you that that happens, I was only making the point that most of why a 31 year old cannot hear as high of frequencies as a teenager is not because of a "natural occurrence" but because of damage that we do to our own hearing throughout our adult lives. Our hearing loss is almost exclusively self induced due to the fact that it's cumulative. Things that don't seem that loud to people such as a lawnmower or vacuum cleaner are actually doing a tiny amount of damage every week that they get used and over the course of years that adds up to high frequency hearing loss. We may think that hearing loss is part of the natural aging process but it's not, we did it to ourselves.

I've had these for a while now, and they're my go-to ear pro now. Highly recommend. One additional comment, if you change modes and turn them off, it remembers that setting when you turn it back on. I've only pressed the power button for months now, no messing with settings every time. I have it set on Clear Voice with a reasonable volume and I don't need to touch it. Love the Type C charging port, although the battery really does last a long time and I've rarely charged it. Good reminder to go plug them in now, actually.

Almost bought the Firemax ear pro when they first were released. I was able to test them at my local LGS at their indoor range. I will say that the Walker's Firemax ear pro does a better job than my current Peltor Tactical 500's that I've been using for a number of years now.. both had the gel ear cups. I'm most likely going to end up getting the Firemax unless something better comes up..

I wish they kept the original quad directional pickups and the 9x boost for hunters…for some reason the newer low profile sets that claim Omni directional mics aren’t as good at picking up subtle sounds and they also don’t seem to indicate the direction of the source of a sound anywhere near as good as the regular profile walkers used to but the thicker profile gave them a tendency to get knocked off my ears a bit while shouldering certain firearms. If they just took the original 9x quad mic versions and slimmed them down while keeping the price point similar, nearly every hunter in my family would rush out and grab a set...

Been looking at different ear pro. Ben using the Walker Razors and Brownells branded electronic ear pro for years. They tend to get uncomfortable when I'm wearing them for long periods of time. Was considering some sort of ear plug option, but those seem to be all over the place and ear plugs in general have been tricky to get to fit good. These look like a great option...behind the head or over the head. I wonder if the behind the head would prove to be more comfortable. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these!

Walker makes a set that is cheaper and has Bluetooth so you can listen to your "John Wick" music Playlist or take ka phone call w/o having to remove your protection.
