Your Fusion 360 videos are the best tutorials online! The two cookie cutter tutorials have been very helpful. Perhaps I missed it but I didn't see the original photo inverted as you did with the "BE MINE" text in the other cookie cutter video. I guess since this is just a face it doesn't matter much but imagine for other images it would be necessary to invert in order to get a cookie that matches the original image? Thanks for making such informative videos!

I will try to bake the cookies on the build plate ahahah I wonder if more people would be interested in learning how to make archimedean and platonic solids, i think those would be useful as base or building blocks for many projects =), there aren't many tutorials about that, and certainly not this good XD

Hi! Thanks for this video, I will adopt some of your work flow here. I have been using Adobe Illustrator to create the svg but when I import it in fusion it scale it down, do you know why or how to fix it so it can be imported at original size?

couldnt we just extruder the svg, in the surface workspace, and then use the extruded surface to project to a new sketch?
@ProductDesignOnline
@ProductDesignOnline 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bernie. Great point! The only challenge with that route is that you'll often face issues with offsetting/thickening/projecting based on there being too many spline points. At least I did when I tried that with my converted SVG. Ultimately, it depends on the file :)

Can this be done with any picture? Wanting to do some character cookie cutters for our kids and struggling to get the detail in the middle. They've asked for Mario, Sonic, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and so on.
@ProductDesignOnline
@ProductDesignOnline 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig. For the most part, it can be done with any photo. If you're looking to do those characters I would recommend a Google search of "Sonic the Hedgehog stencil" or similar... that will come up with results that are much easier to convert into an SVG file. Cheers, Kevin :)

Could you just extrude the first svg then shell it and cut out the bottom instead creating splines and offsetting?
@ProductDesignOnline
@ProductDesignOnline 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jacob. That will work with some designs. I originally experimented with mine but the shell command wouldn't work because the imported SVG has too many tiny faces that intersected/folded near itself due to all the spline points.

Nice! I haven't tried Molday yet..but's its on my todo list of experiments. I used to cast a lot of objects with Smooth-On brand products..but this would eliminate one of the steps in the mold making process.

Hi, thank you for this! I am coming across an error when trying to create the edge. I go to offset the outer edge and I get an error "the sketch offset created no geometry. Modify the offset dimension or verify the changes are correct." Any idea what this means or how to fix this? Thank you!
@ProductDesignOnline
@ProductDesignOnline 3 жыл бұрын
That error is typically due to the offset size being too small/large or when the geometry is not selected. Can you share a screenshot of your model?

Is PETG filament dishwasher safe ?
@ProductDesignOnline
@ProductDesignOnline 3 жыл бұрын
The problem with all filaments in dishwashers is the temperature (or melting point). Most dishwashers get really hot on the dry cycle, so I would not recommend that. I suggest either washing by hand... or even better (what I do) is simply lay a piece of saran wrap in between the dough and the cutter. With most designs, you can get it to work fine, and then you don't have to clean the cutter or worry about anything touching the plastic crevises :)

@@ProductDesignOnline ok thanks ! I ask you because I've found a website that propose cookie cutters dishwasher safe : bakerlogy.com/
@ProductDesignOnline
@ProductDesignOnline 3 жыл бұрын
@@dalilasamson7160 yeah, I've seen that before and I don't agree with it. The bigger issue at play here is there are a bunch of unknowns and variables. To recommend that to everyone seems misleading and dishonest (IMO) :)

You actually don't want a durable cookie cutter. You should consider FDM printed cookie cutters a one batch use cutter. There is just no way you can properly clean all the crevices. It will become a breeding ground for bacteria. Print, use, toss.
@ProductDesignOnline
@ProductDesignOnline 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick. I actually lay down plastic wrap between the cutter and the dough - works perfect and nothing ever touches the cookie cutter. No need to toss them :)
