In this video PML tutor Attila (The Sixteenth Bar) takes over the channel and shows you how to connect, set up and map your Ableton Project. This will technically enable you to set up Ableton Live just like Ben Böhmer uses it to perform his live shows and is a commonly used way to perform live for electronic artists in general. - Watch full video of Ben here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpjclZ2sgaqjiM0 (this is the video we are referring to).

Also, am I the only one surprised that only 2/8 of the channels are devoted to melodic elements? Was surprised that in such an efficient setup there’s 5 drum channels, including 2 hat channels.

@@sdixon305 that's because the main melodies are played live with a midi controller and Diva synth. 😁

Hi this is great ! Thank you :) Yes I would love a video to show us how to compress full song template into only 8 stems. I get lost and overwhelmed on the idea of how to organize it, especially with the elements that are added and removed throughout the track in the arrangement view. Thanks 😁

Advanced courses could be cool for Live Performance. In this video, it's really for beginners. When you know all about send & returns, about MIDI assignation, about launch clips, about groups, about audio effects but you want to go further. Ben Bohmer's live is a bit different because he has very long scenes (duration of his song), and he doesn't launch anything by hand. It's a max for live device which launch it.

Super good video, very clear, and a great use case!! I was wondering when you want to play live like that but going through multiple songs, how do you proceed? do you have to prepare the set in advance and set all the scenes one after the others for the entire live set? Or is there a way to choose on the fly what you want to play and upload a song as a group of scenes while playing live another one? Perhaps if you can refer me to a video explaining how, it would be much appreciated. Keep going, I'm following you channel now :-)

Production Music Live creating effect racks for live performance. Also, I know that some artist play live but also play other artists music. How would they go about chopping and creating stems of other peoples music. How do you ensure that your songs loudness level up to other artists tracks when your setting up your stems. Do you master the stems afterwards? I believe these are all topics that are currently missing in the internet and would be really helpful for others going this route.

Production Music Live I have a question. Im a Logic Pro X producer, but I am big fan of your videos, because it really helps me to get ideas flowing. My question is, will your videos always be about ableton? Nothing wrong with that, Im just curious. Keep sharing these GEMS please
@ProductionMusicLive4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ronnie, thanks! Yes, PML is an Ableton focussed channel. We've set up an extra channel for FL Studio Tips on KZbin and we even have a separate Instagram Channel for Logic (@logic_tips). However, we currently don't have the time / manpower to cover Logic on KZbin as well (we only occasionally manage to do so on insta). Tom & Francois from our core team love and use Ableton every day, so their time is best used when working with Ableton Live. Thanks for commenting, we'll definitely try to keep it up! :)

Also like another doubt is how would you recommend to set the Scenes? like 1 Group for each song or all the kicks in one channel for all the song and so on (arranged as the sequence), as of now how I was thinking was to do was all the different songs in different group but then the number of channels will just increase and transitioning would be a problem, any suggestion/tip please?

How do I break up a very complex project into stems? Talking about classic instruments, lot of experimental sound design, sub bass, loads of different drums, atmos and vocal chops,..? Bens Music is pretty simple regarding the project size and arrangement. What do I do if I have like 200+ tracks and beat changes etc? Any advice on breaking up those complex projects in stems?

Is it possible to automate behaviour of a stem? What if you want to do live vocals but need a delay and long reverb decay at the end of a sentence, can you automate that in the scenes mode?

Great tutorial! now i know how I should use session view:) Could you know what is the reason that after connecting midimix first fader in akai midimix in ableton is disabled? other faders are automatically assigned to correct path in ableton. If I teach first fader to first path is ok, but when i switch to the second bank on right side then first fader still control path but still on first bank not second bank?

hi m8 thanks for making this video...i was wondering how to do a much more 'live' live act.. so no complete stems but simpler 4 or 8 bar loops and a couple of bigger parts for the breakdowns and fx...i used to play live like crazy in the 2000's with two MC505 and it went great...just looping and filtering and drums muting on the fly...I had gigs on bigger festivals and i went really well...now i want to do the same, but with one APC40 and Ableton..any change you can help me with this? Thanks!!!!
@RutgerSteenbergen3 жыл бұрын
Great video, exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! Two questions though: is Ableton Lite good enough for this approach? And is there a cheaper controller than Push 2? I'm happy with Studio One and otherwise I have to buy a complete new DAW and dedicated midi-controller.
@massimomarazzo91802 жыл бұрын
ABLETON PUSH 2 ISN'T a valid choice for live use, then It doesn't have faders.
@JonnyLust3 жыл бұрын
Great video! Do you guys know by any chance if it's possible to program the APC40 mkII so that all faders go up to 0db? That is, without mapping a fader to a specific channel. Otherwise the fader would always be stuck when I navigate across channels. Thanks!
@Pierreduchzy2 жыл бұрын
Place a utility with the gain set to -6dB on every tracks. If you need to you can set it as a default track (right click on the track). Now the maximum position of the APC's faders will set your tracks to 0dB
