@@lucaskamal8094 he is right though.. There is no way to put all of the basics that were combined in this set into a single video and have it keep your attention for the dozens of hours required to explain all the techniques and nuance required. This would and does require a series of manageable videos. There are some very helpful videos for beginners that do cover this. One of my favourite teachers of these topics about live performance is Freddy Frogs so you could start there! Pace yourself and it will come quite naturally. Or if you have any specific questions ask away. Surely members of this community will be able to shed light on anything that you need more explanation for.

this is gold. one question though, how did you route vst instruments through that external instrument? It seems to only want to work with hardware synths for me.
@jaredbobier28444 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what VST you are trying to use it with so I’ll use Omnisphere as an example. Load your external instrument onto whatever channel you need it. In the EI select the VST, and select the midi it is sending to the VST (channel 1-16), you also have to select where the external instrument plugin will receive audio from. Omnisphere actually has a “multi” mode, which is basically a mixer inside of Omnisphere blending allowing you to blend and mix it’s layers within itself. Each of these can receive midi on a channels A-H (1-8). And they can send audio out (in stereo) through 1-16 different outputs. However, you cannot use audio output 1/2 because that will send the audio out of the VST channel instead of back into the external instrument (because Omnisphere designates 1/2 that way). So simply send midi channel 1 to Omnisphere to trigger the sound in receiving that channel, and receive audio back on 3/4.

Can anyone assist with an Ableton question? I have a 2017 Macbook Pro with 16GB of RAM that I run my tracks off of. My CPU usage is hovering around 9-11% per song (similar to Anomalie's in this demonstration) but one thing I run into every so often is track skips or audio drops outs, which when you're playing with a band on a click track is a major worry. Any advice for reducing that risk? Currently my set length is only about 50 minutes, and each song only has about 10 tracks running at any one time

Anyone have experience with both methods and have some insights?
@JamisonMyth5 жыл бұрын
early in the vid he shows that he uses an MPC to be able to jump to any track with the push of 1 physical button. session view would be good for improvising the song structure on the fly, but i doubt they do that

St Vincent’s music director did a whole tutorial on Lynda (now part of Linked In) on their setup and as I recall he used session view. I highly recommend that video, so informative, thorough and well explained.
@micindir42135 жыл бұрын
Timeline is cool when you need automation, tempo and stuff working. Its also a bit easier to see song structure. (There are workarounds to loop section, but its mostly just playing programmed stuff) Session is useful if you do dance music, where pattern or loop is a foundation of the track. You can program program changes in clips, but they will change only on clip launch and not 8th note before new section. In the end it doesn't matter.
@DJRY3605 жыл бұрын
I am a session view guy myself.. But i think like mic indir points out.. It makes more sense if you are performing and/or improvising solo.. when you are working with other musicians.. Especially ones maybe not totally versed in how Live works.. (Not implying that here but from my own experience.) Using arrangement view lets them see it more like a musical score and can be helpful when you have cues and changes that need to happen. Also unless he has scripted his own apcmini code he is using the session view for something judging by the way it is lit up.
