I relate to this SO much. I experience huge amounts of sensory overwhelm and anxiety if I am not in control of my environment, whether it be cleanliness, sound or smell (to the point where I refuse to let anyone else clean the house). I love your videos because watching you organise your life and space makes me feel so immensely calm! Thank you for being honest about your experience!

Hope you’re able to find your answers through therapy. In case you didn’t know, there is pure obsession ocd and also ocpd. Also sometimes with ocd the compulsion can on first look seem unrelated to the obsession or there may be a time delay between the two. Also, wondering if you’ve ever looked into autism or adhd. Both can manifest in ocd like traits through things like overstimulation, hyperfixation, needing things to be a certain way, strong emotional reactions or impulsive/unwanted behaviour that doesn’t always align with your true values. If you have both it can be a bit like a wrestling match ie. autism “I love being home and in my routine and having everything just right” adhd “screw the routine let’s totally change up our whole lives”. Absolutely not diagnosing you but I am late diagnosed with both (at different times) and it’s super common in creative people like yourself. Sounds silly but it wasn’t until the adhd algorithm on TikTok found me that I realised that despite close exposure to it, I really did not understand adhd in women and the way we develop coping mechanisms and shape our lives to compensate for having adhd. Many diagnostic tests don’t take this into account and many are not catered to audhd-ers (dual diagnosis). In my case it was missed or ruled out by professionals who should have really known better but there’s a lot of misinformation and stigma out there even amongst “experts”. Educating and advocating for myself was so important and it has ultimately been life changing. Wishing you all the best on your mental health journey wherever it leads 💖

I totally relate about things needing to look a certain way. My husband likes things straight/tidy but I like to see things a certain way which I can’t always explain. With our home I have to check what the view looks like from the doorway or where you sit. I get really happy when it looks just right but can’t settle when it isn’t right.

Hey Rachel, it's very brave and good that you're sharing this. I think you're a perfectionist (like me). I've been following you for a while now and have been noticing this already. On one hand it's nice and motivating to watch but at some point it always gives me a hyper feeling and then I have to switch off the video. It gets too much. I hope your therapist can help you to overcome this. I will be starting a new form of therapy soon. I hope this time it will really help because I had therapy twice before (after my divorce) but it didn't do anything for me. Good luck on your journey! Much love. 🍀💚🤗☀️

Thank you so much for sharing this. I have ADHD and struggle a lot with perfectionism. Because of the emotional dysregulation that comes with my ADHD, I get SO frustrated when things aren't *just so*. I'm constantly late for things because my outfit, makeup, etc. isn't how I want it, and I've always put off doing assignments because I worry I won't execute them perfectly. I also do what my husband and I call "procrasti-cleaning"/ "pro-clean-stinating" because I literally can't focus until the the physical clutter is reckoned with. Knowing that others deal with the same thing really makes me feel better.

Thanks so much for sharing. We talked about ADHD and plan to run through that the next time I speak with them. I've been wondering about it but all the people who make stuff about it on Tik Tok throw me off. They make it seems so silly and it's not for the people who have it

I was recently diagnosed with OCD, but not because of cleanliness/patterns, etc. Mine is because of overwhelm/ control issues. Mental health can be difficult to navigate- im glad it’s something you are focusing on!

@@rachelleea I think learning and accepting that I have this was a big one- it made me feel not so “crazy”. I can also step back and think through those thoughts much easier. Example: if I can’t tackle an entire project and successfully complete it at once, then I think, why even start. But- once I started breaking that task down into smaller, manageable bite size pieces, it’s not so overwhelming. Thinking of how to set myself up for success as I can handle it, not as others do, has really helped me feel more in control.
@rachelleea
@rachelleea Жыл бұрын
that makes so much sense. People sometimes suggest doing things and I just think - but I can't, it wont work like that - so it makes so much sense to do things that work for you even if it doesn't make sense to others or isn't the way other people do it

Sometimes when I’m doing something big like cleaning my entire kitchen, I have to give myself 5 minutes to sit on my couch every little bit and just breathe/clear my mind because its overwhelming. I actually relate to a lot of those experiences and I’m actually autistic. I’m not trying to push any labels or anything like that, but a strong urge to do things the “right” way can sometimes come from that. I’m very messy in general but when it comes to anything I consider “art” (outfits, photos, poetry, displays, poses) I am such a perfectionist, to a point where it brings a lot of discomfort if I can’t get it perfect. That’s all I wanted to say, hope you’re having a good day.

Oh yes this “ I will clean up EVERYTHING and then do work ! It just never ends and you end up feeling bad about yourself as if you did nothing all day long.I mostly experienced this as perfectionism and the only way to get out of this trap was to just let things go if I can clean or do work for just ten minutes let it be.Better done than perfect,because perfect doesn’t exist.I too can function the best way possible in a colour coordinated space and a neat space but after sooo many years that I was anxious because my space wasn’t neat all the time, i started cleaning little by little , however I could, I tried some things to relax before cleaning eg reading lighting candles playing music,so that I enjoyed the process more!I need this kind of space to function better but now instead of letting my not so tidy home to decide if I will be anxious, I do some stuff little by little so that I can have the situation in my own hands!Hope that helps ❤️❤️❤️so glad that you now know how to make your next space super suitable for you❤️The no1 rule I have is that I always try to do things according to the way that my brain works😁

It's okay to express ALL sides of yourself. Only once we accept our good with our bad can we begin to change what we need to. I can relate to this and the pressure you put on yourself to be "perfect". I found that this hinders one from being present in a moment and truly having gratitude for what you DO get right and the things you DO achieve. Dig deeper, it might also be that you are subconsciously comparing yourself to others, which is a dangerous and pointless game to play. Overall, have compassion on yourself and step away when you feel like the negativity is about to take over your entire day. 💗

The video is very interesting! One question that pops up is: how is it possible to switch places and travel so much if your sourrounding is so important for your well-being? I heard that your new place (some day) will be very thoughtful furnitured etc but doesn‘t the in-between-time stress you out, on the contrary? I‘m just genuinely interested how you master it because not many people share potential inner conflicts. A big thank you for your content!!

no that's the other weird thing, I love how free I feel. I love change and moving around. It's also something I wanted to challenge myself with, see if I am able to ease those feelings by throwing myself in the deep end and being forced to get comfortable with my surroundings being out of my control. But for 80% of the time I'm content with wherever I am, the other 20% is when these feelings come out.

I’d like to suggest an additional thought on your need to clean and organize so much. As introverts, we are definitely much more sensitive to our environment and when we are overstimulated or stressed, we seek control by focusing on things around us. Obviously with your life being in flux these days, it totally makes sense why you are feeling this way. Hoping you are feeling more comfortable very soon.

I have OCD and ASD and so I dont know which parts of me are caused by what, but in case it's not come up, ASD can present very different in females to the "stereotype". Is it worth doing a dry run of the filming you do so that you can iron out the faults you see before you film the content for uploading? Might be a way of dealing with the frustration if you know your first film isn't the one you're going to post. The next may be the one however because you've had a chance to practice it and check out anything you want to change. Bit like filming an actual film, take one etc? 🎬

I do hope that the Psychologist is gonna be able to help you with the OCD that you have been dealing with. I really don’t understand why he/she isn’t calling it OCD cause you have all the issues of that illness. If I may ask, why can’t people just admit it and call it for what it is? I have a friend who is the same as you and yes, he is definitely OCD. Well, if it isn’t that then it is definitely some kind of compulsive disorder. Just accept yourself, your situations and things whether dirty or unorganized as they all are. All of us humans are perfect and never will be. Hugs love and blessings to you. Sue M🥰👍🏻❤️🙏❌⭕️

I don’t have the compulsions which is why it isn’t ocd. I feel the discomfort someone with ocd does but I don’t have the compulsions to “fix” things. I can move through the feelings without doing anything 😊

In my opinion, if you don't work from home, you won't need a therapist . Trust me! Take it easy, girl! You look great ! Enjoy the life ! 🌍 Best wishes from south Europe!!!🌈🌞🌹

Thanks for sharing your thoughts but my therapist and I talk about more than just work. I think it's very important to have one to work through all different areas of your life. Even if I worked from somewhere else I would still have these feelings and need to work on it 💛💛 Hope you have a great week
