I actually like it how you had it in front of the pillar, with your idea of the console table behind. Being off-centre and looking into the doors would annoy me too. It does look good on the opposite wall too, and that would mean having conversations between the kitchen and the living area would be easier when you have visitors. Your Kitchenaid looks great - that colour goes really well with your kitchen. You’ll love it! I’ve had one for over 10 years - so useful!

thanks so much 💛🧡 I’ve used it once already and it was so nice. I’m really excited to start baking different things 😊

I'd pick the best view from your window while sitting on the couch

You need to get some self-adhesive curtain rod clips. They are smaller and work great.

You could use a large artist eisel as your TV stand...I've seen it done and it looks so artistic and cozy plus you can easily move it and no damage to walls (& easy to plug in from)

That is such a cool idea 😍😍

Don't feel like everything has to be up against the wall. Floating the sofa away from the wall on the window side allows you to walk all the way around the sofa and look out the window. I don't know if you have a TV or what your budget is for it but those free standing TVS that you can move from room to room could allow more flexibility.

Have you tried not having the lounge against a wall? If you dont care about optimising space, then you could try putting a tv on a stand on the wall with the pillar and pushing the lounge over. Hang some art on the pillar and put a bigger floor lamp next to the window/pillar.

I don't mind either position, but if you put the couch on the bedroom wall you could use a smaller tv unit, then a tall bookcase to mirror the pillar and create symmetry.

Love how your apartment is all coming together. I thought a buffet or credenza for your tv would fit in the space of pillar area. I like how the couch sits on the wall side as your bedroom door. Can't wait to see what happens next.

I would adsolutely put the coach on the last wall you tried. It will make sense when you get the tv on the opposite wall. It doesn't matter if it's not perfect straight across from eachother. You will be abel to watch the tv any way. Somethimes you just need to make the best of it and don't think about it beeing perfect or not.

Maybe get more pieces for you living room, then you can see how it looks better than just giving the couch...gwen

I think plop the couch where you had it before! Then it will be in the centre of the opposite wall and you could put a console table something against the wall behind the couch! Or maybe some kind of bookshelf?
@raghadtayar43984 сағат бұрын
The way you had the couch originally is the best and put a book shelf next to it to separate it from the kitchen

What is that purple and black thingy under your bathroom sink? Also pillars are the Worst, after renovating our home we ended up with this ugly pillar that's blocking the way, it's not even in the center and I'm just trying to pretend that it's not there.

Another idea. Set the couch where it was before, but 2 feet or so from the wall and pillar. Than put bookcases or shelves next to the pillar on the right side, woth the same depth as the pillar, and fill out the gap between the pillars with them. So it appears a straight wall.
@LindavanderVeen4 сағат бұрын
Did you try to put the couch facing the window? You could put the tv on a buffet on the left wall, and maybe add a nice chair. You could still watch the tv lying on the couch
@LamiaElhoni4 сағат бұрын
Definitely line the end of the sofa with the end of the pillar and add table behind it and use the space under the window for a low book shelf that will make the room look small and neat.
@cinger-xy5me5 сағат бұрын
You are overthinking it. Keep the couch on the bedroom wall and buy a sideboard and center that in the nook across from the couch. TV does not need to be centered with the couch. Like someone said - get a plant for the bump out in the living room.
@reneerobinson69295 сағат бұрын
You said you don't like the width or was it the length of the living room. So, what if you put the buffet with the tv on top of it at a comfortable distance from the couch and put the rug the way you like it and then put decor in the space behind the tv. Yes, you'll have to deal with the cords, but you can get a white or black cord hider that is made for being flat on the floor and paint it the same color as the floor so it blends in. You could still put an accent table beside that pillar. Or maybe you could make it into a reading nook. Or you could put an artificial fireplace, or your desk there instead and depending on the amount of room from behind the tv to the wall make the area in front of the window and pillar into a little reading nook.

The couch doesn’t have to be against a wall if you don’t like a big space. Is there enough space to pull the couch closer to the tv wall and leave a bigger gap behind the couch? So that it fits nicely with the rug. If a room is big then all the furniture against the wall doesn’t always look the best. It doesn’t look like a huge room though.

A must that the curtain hit the floor and hung close to the ceiling. Your apartment is lovely.

I see the pros and cons of having the couch on either side! If you leave it on the side with your bedroom doors, no one will really be looking towards your room/closet. Not sure about the tv placement though. 😅 Maybe leave it on the tv table (centered) and decorate the walls behind it in a way that it all is centered despite that pillar lol. Maybe a tall plant by the window on that side, idk. How fun!! I’m so happy for you. 😊✨

Can you put a tall shelf unit between the window and pillar, same depth as pillar,same colour as wall
@shirleyski61476 сағат бұрын
You’re way over thinking it!!! Do they have any units as models that can give ideas?? The sofa on the two door side makes more sense! Better view out the windows as well!!! Put the sticky velvet covered leg covers on bottom of the sofa legs! Curtains to the very top and down to the floor!!!! Nothing harmed! Never short curtains! 3 tier step stool
@catianalugo79126 сағат бұрын
Yes, the sofa looks perfect on the wall of the doors. On the wall for the TV, I would put it on the wall with the extender and a small table below. I would put the desk in the remaining space! 🤭

The couch looks best as it was before. Somehow when furniture are not pushed against the walls the room looks bigger and more expensive :)

The chaise by the wall of the doors is a better arrangement. White hutch buffet on the opposite wall with a TV stand. Either a floor lamp in the nook by the pillar or a tall tree in a white pot filled with moss (faux preference). I would remove that painting on the pillar. It distracts the alignment of that space. A simple coffee table with a cozy rug. I prefer minimal decor. Keeping it simple and clean helps clear my mind from unnecessary chaos. However, you decide to decorate your space is entirely up to you, your personal touches will make it a home. Simplicity, clean, airy but homey feel for me helps my mind stay calm.

I prefer the couch how you originally had it. With a bookcase behind it in that piller nook and a big plant between the window and the pillar it will look good. Plus it will close that big space and make the lounge more cozy 💖🌸 either way I’m sure it will look amazing

An accent chair would be perfect next to the couch if the couch is between the pillars
@christiana7837 сағат бұрын
The couch makes more sense and looks best where it was originally. I would keep it there but move it over ever so slightly so that it's in line with the piece of the wall that juts out. Then you can put a table or maybe a plant or floor lamp in that little nook to fill it out and make it look less awkward. I also like the shelf/table behind the couch to maximize the space. You could even lean some art pieces back there.
@inkstainedlips7 сағат бұрын
I would put the TV next to the pillar in that recessed area, then if you put a few more photos/painting to the right of the TV you won't have to center it because the art on both sides will balance it out. I hope that makes sense.

Definitely like the couch by your bedroom door, you could do a buffet with TV on it in the place next to the pillar and put a really pretty planet or tree right in the corner by the pillar to help balance the space and maybe like a little blanket basket off to the right of the buffet/ TV

Could you stick the 3M hooks on the ceiling instead of the metal thing?
@rachelleea7 сағат бұрын
I was thinking that, but with this type of hook the rod would roll off. I did once have hooks that closed and clipped on to rods. Maybe I could find those again?

Oh that's true.. Yeaa I've seen those kind of hooks too.. May be worth trying if they don't stay on the metal bar.. good luck! Xx

You know what could work if you put a plant by the pillar that could help hide the pillar and would not have it off center to much. With the couch on the opposite side to the kitchen you could still get the same size rug. Just an idea.
