In these days in my life (Tues-Fri), I make steady progress on Chapter 3 of my dissertation and share some of what I'm working on (research chats!) I also draft my first cover letter for an academic job! eeeeek! so exciting! And I have tons of Zoom calls as I lead writing groups for grad students!

Thank you for normalizing the "slow mornings" in your vlogs. Watching you take time to yourself and follow some of those natural rhythms of what you need over the course of a busy week is so validating. The un/structure of grad school is so tricky to navigate. It seems like whatever choice you make there's a reason to feel guilty about it, either not working enough or overworking yourself, so having a model of someone prioritizing reading for fun, sleeping in, whatever you need is a gift. Also, thank you for addressing the coffee maker right of the bat😂

number one piece of advice for first year grad students specifically: be proactive about self-care! Don’t wait until you’re burnt out to care for your self.

The writing groups are my duties for my new Student Academic Appointment as an Article Writing Workshop coordinator (a GA position through IU’s writing center). This job gives me my stipend and replaces my role as an instructor that I’ve had for the past few years!
