We've got a kona, after a few weeks you just get used to it. Worth mentioning if you continue to exceed the limit the sound stops and the visual warning only continues, it's just at that critical point it goes off. At the end of the day do not speed, simple as that. In the UK speed control is pretty hot with cameras everywhere and cops mobile radar by the road. I welcome the bing bongs it saves me a hefty fine and it might save a pedestrians life. Drive within the limit - I am someone has had a speeding fine, attended the police speed awareness course and believe me after some knowledge, realising how an extra 5mph could mean the difference between someone being injured as opposed to killed, it changes your driving habit. No it's not too sensitive, limits are limits for a good reason. All new cars in the EU have this tech . If you have ever lost a loved one in a car crash you would think different. For the record, any extra speed during a journey actually has very minimal difference to the arrival time (a few minutes max), I was amazed how little difference it made, check it out, it's pointless going faster you arrive no quicker (only in your mind, physically....no). Safe driving.

@@ProductReviewCars Worth noting this car has "Driver Profiles" (Up to three including the Guest which is there by default). The Guest profile has very, very limited control over the speed detect. Off and two On modes. One of those 'on' modes ties the speed limit detect to the Smart Cruise - this mode bongs less when driving without smart cruise. Taking the time to set up a Driver profile, even if you are the only person driving the car gives access to more settings Including the ability to set the sensitivity of when the alert triggers.

Perhaps it is regional. My Canadian 2024 Kona line ultimate never dings. Never. I setup my user profile, disabled that feature, and never hear it. It does, however, light up a small red dot letting me know what the speed limit is, and that is when it’s in the analog look mode. I also only have had to disable the lane keep assist etc. once for under highway speeds, but whenever I go highway speeds, I do need to deselect lanes keep assist with the steering f wheel buttons the first time I go above 100km / hr (or about 60 mph. That does annoy me a small tad, but only because I don’t like a vehicle trying to steer itself. I do LOVE the new transmission, and I have the turbo model, don’t travel fast with it, so fuel economy isn’t a large concern for me. Highly recommend.

I haven’t watch this video yet but i own a 2024 kona n-line in the new blue, and the only thing i find annoying is if you go a automatic car wash (touch less) it doesnt clean under the wing on the window so you have to manually clean it. Cool thing about the American version, we don't have the ding sound if we go over the speed limit just a small red dot on the speedometer that flashes

I have a current base model and by far the wost feature in the safety systems is the driver attention warning that can't be turned off...if you're driving on bad roads as like north or western Queensland where the shoulder is all potholes and in pieces and have to cross the centre line the attention warning goes into Defcon 3 flashing the idiot light on the dash and big-bonging all the time + keeps turning the lane keep assist back on. Now when I drive out of town I block the camera on the windscreen to shut it all down.... actually makes the car enjoyable to drive.

That thing you speak about arround 03:20 is a place where the rear red fog light is suppose to be. I don't understand why you don't have it, it's mandatory safety feature and looks super cool in Kona.

If you don’t like the chime sound when you exceed the speed limit read the manual. You can change the offset so if you do exceed the limit it won’t chime. I did it on my 2024 Kona Limited the first day I owned it in the United States. No need to be annoyed mate😮
@ProductReviewCars6 ай бұрын
No option to change the offset here in Australia. It's a EU law that mandates the same chime to sound every time you turn the car on and off. The US does not get the same system as Australia gets - to my knowledge.

Would we buy a Hyundai KONA N Line Premium 1.6 Litre Turbo you ask? Why yes we would and have just done so, taking delivery about a week ago. Let me tell you, this car is just fantastic, no kidding - more than fantastic. We had read about the point you make on the speed beeping noises before purchase and were a little concerned but the other great features made us dismiss that perceived problem. We've found the speed beeping not only non-offensive but it’s great it’s there. It didn’t take too many days to not disregard the beeping but having the brain recognising it as just a part of driving. No doubt because of the comments about this, one day there will be a software update to be able to stop it with a button but we won’t be using it. It’s a safety feature and a good one. The human brain is a marvellous thing in getting over stuff like this. Best car we’ve ever owned.

@rogersmith53716 ай бұрын
All the ADAS features have to be on by default otherwise the vehicle cannot attain a 5 star ANCAP rating. Turning them off by default would make it pointless to fit them in the first place. Drivers of EVs need to know that just like a pilot they now have to do a pre-drive check and turn off all the features they don't want before they start driving and then remember that when the y get out of the car all the features they turned off will be reactivated. Don't do it while the car is in motion as you will have your eyes off the road for a considerable period of time as you navigate through menus - that dangerous for you and for other drivers.
@d3n0tz_6 ай бұрын
its 5 star ADAS (Europe) rating. ANCAP doesnt need speed limit warning. Tesla car has speed limit warning, but you can turn it to just show blinking alert in your screen instead of annoying beep. The worst is, the one in Hyundai doesnt recognise School holiday and beep crazily when we drive 50km/h on a school zone when its school holiday. Love the Kona, but the speed limit is so stupid.
@rogersmith53716 ай бұрын
@@d3n0tz_ Thanks for reading my comment and responding. In my view some of the ADAS features are useful (although I don't have them on my car it is too old) especially for other road users. The lane keeper assist and the blind spot alert are useful in cases where a drive is making a turn or a lane change and doesn't realise there is a cyclist or motorcyclist in the lane they are attempting to turn into. Every motorcyclist (of which I am one) has had an experience like this and it usually ends with SIDSYM (Sorry I Didn't See You Mate).

The only thing I dont like is that all Hyundai salesman will tell you that its for the ANCAP rating, which is not true.
@ProductReviewCars6 ай бұрын
Totally understand why it's there, but it's not required for Australian compliance (to my understanding). A simple software fix would enable speed sign recognition without the beeping, or even just being able to disable it once and not have to do that every time you restart the car. You mention you should do this while stationary, but I'm predicting some drivers are going to try and do this while driving, as the speed beep only occurs when you're driving.
