The woman in the backseat is his mom, his dad was bi-polar & violent, his mom tried to keep him positive & looking forward through all the trauma... And she's right, except the "Sunshine all the time"... Trauma, like depression is something you get through to better moments... But the trauma (C-PTSD) will be triggered again, and depression will come back, you have to remember the times you survived both and that something better did come back. Take the emotional development & resiliency that you got from it & use it to do the things you love without fear of something pushing you down. If you're going through hell, you gotta keep going!

Between “Myself” and “Flower boy” they both are intense amazing real story telling lyrically but “Myself” is extra deep deep. His “King Gampo” album is his superior album of them all. All his work is amazing..PERIOD! Duh 😘

I seen him perform this live in Iowa back in December. I believe he said it was about his family. He left it all on the line when he performed that song. 400 people 5ft away quieter than anything you could imagine. Some other songs you should check out are Motel, Devils Gate, Zoo and Gasoline.

I loved this. I go around and watch a lot of reaction videos to Prof songs bc I love to watch people enjoy Prof for the first time and watch the emotion rollercoaster as they are confused about how they weren't expecting this caliber of hip hop from this artist, but how much they gradually get into his songs. This was refreshing content since you're already familiar with his material. I agree with your statement about Prof's Powderhorn Suite videos, you can see the emotion in his face.

This dude is fire. From what I understood watching the live release of this song, this shit is legit about his family and what he dealt with growing up. He refuses to actually say what woman it is, he’s got a couple sisters and his momma. The story is hella dark. I vote everyone check out Karma Legend. The entire Powderhorn Suites album was originally supposed to drop from Rhymesayers, but when the label dumped him he took time off and away and came back part of stophouse and dropped the album. It’s heady, way different from the earlier party boy vibes.

I get the feeling this song may be reflecting on a trauma in his life due to the dysfunctional family like you should bring someone else with you to see your father to be safe, and then the woman driving him all winter long I feel (I may be completely wrong) may be describing his mother and him running from the situation and him, her, or both contemplating ending their lives being the best way out meanwhile she's telling him to ignore the pain and keep pushing forward but at the same time "you've never been better than this" reminding of how bad it really is that running from it and ignoring it and "saying nothing" is the best they can do... that's my interpretation possibly wrong but with how he connects to it I feel I may be in the ballpark...

I feel like the 'car' is his life or his career; constantly being propelled forward, and one of the things that keeps him from giving up is a woman in the back seat who's beating him over the head with "in a mile you'll be on your way. In a mile you'll be feeling fine". But he's also dealing with some sort of overbearing stress that has him feeling it might be best to give up, just crash the car, or let Jesus take the wheel. As if it might be better for the both of them to stop struggling, to stop driving forward.
@VoxVirtus86

think of the "women in the back seat" as his career. It keeps telling him to just keep pushing forward, and he will feel fine and that he keeps thinking about just throwing it all away because the depression and mental health issues drag him down. At least that is the vibe that I get from it.

The season from profs King gampo album is really good. It's From his older album but it talks about how he's ready for his time and just kills it. It's fun to see how far his style has grown from then to now.

So I've listened to the song over and over trying to figure out who the woman in the back seat is. After a while, I truly believe it's addiction. Either drugs or alcohol. However, since it's the "back seat" and that's a phrase for a vehicle and drunk driving is huge and suicidal thoughts come in all forms, but drunk driving puts you in a place to make that decision pretty quickly. Also, always bringing up Winter which is the highest suicide rate time of the year with all the Holidays. I'm pretty confident the woman is "addiction" or just "drug use" I'm just not sure what drug it is.

Maybe the girl is a bad addiction. Riding in the back seat telling you'll be fine tomorrow. wanting to kill us both is drug addiction rock bottom. The happy while high version and the down version. Realizing true happiness is not achievable in this state not yet seeing any other way out. Split personality between sober and high.
