I love Khru (Guru) Jak, he teaches the most brutal stuff with a smile and combines sport with tradition.

I saw enof. My grandpa went to Indonesia, when he was 17. He brought a kirris. I like ninjutsu and ancient Greece warriors too. I look often at the ceramic vessels on google; and see the warriors, relaxed and much spears and shields and swords. Imagine fighting without fear or thought of loosing. i saw a kris here in a antic shop. Need one to practice. One needs to practice much alone too. And follow the four seasons and the 4 moon quarters. Well U can understand.

I dunno.how much I like.silat yet. It' has very long choreographed sequences, which is very unlike real fighting. I can see it may be effective if perfected, but it really has to be perfected. I've noticed that alot of techniques, even if off by a little, will disrupt the sequence. For example during a takedown, too much force could throw the person too far from your next moves. It's too hard to predict on a stranger how they may react after a hit to continue the practiced sequences

Brutal moves, but it seems that during this training session, the attacker always stabs into the air. Theres no parry, but merely defender touching the attacking limb and pretending to have parried . Perhaps its better to train with a foam/wooden knife, so this allows attackers to really just try hit the other person at 80-100% power without fear of injuring? Meanwhile, this gives a better and more realistic training for defenders. If the defender fails, he/she goes home with a bruise, and be 10 times more alert next time.

Why do you have to takedown a body had been already cut in the trouth,it's already been dead...is to much ,over kill ,over act...
@de05095 жыл бұрын
Because the same exact moves can be done without a knife, of course at greatly less damage. A lot of silat moves and locks incorporate strikes along the way as the move is performed. Some moves sneaks in bonus strikes while throwing opponents down. For example, all you need to do is plant your leg on the ground where the opponent will fall, and you throw him down on your knee. Its subtle, damaging, and yet its not even necessary. You decide depending on situation and severity, many of the strikes can be omitted and yet the same result still achieved, with a lot fewer problems with the police when they finally arrive. If the other person is obviously trying to kill you for your wallet and phone, then go ahead and do the full thing to knock him out, or possibly dislocate a limb. If the other person is trying to just beat you for your stuff, and acting as only a single person, all you need to do is hurt him just enough to pin him to the ground and call for help
