Hi Rich, I have three questions related to this news. 1) There is a strong development towards the vending machine, which...... Can I use 'To' instead of using 'Towards'(to the vending machine)? 2) After hearing that ......., store owner Christin Bjugan spotted the man while reviewing CCTV footage. A) Which subject 'While reviewing' is modifying? I think 'While reviewing...' is modifying 'Christin Bjugan' in that news.Is it correct? B) If I want to modify 'The man', should I omit the 'While'? Or If I omit the 'While', Does it modify 'The man' at that time? C) Can I use the definite article 'The' before 'CCTV footage'( the CCTV footage)?

1. "There is a strong development towards the vending machine" in the first place sounds like a non-native translation to me to begin with. Changing towards into 'to' sounds worse, but I wouldn't use the first phrasing either. I think they mean something like a cross between 'tendency towards' and 'development of' together. 2. a) Yes, it's 'while he reviewed' b) Correct, if you take out 'while' it means it's the man doing it. C) You could, in this case. as we understand the context we can assume there is 'the one singular and known CCTV footage'
