A band I work with has one of these exact processors. It seems pretty confusing to get into and adjust. Do you or do you know of any videos that go further into setting things up in within? Thanks for this video. Nice to have people take the time to explain things

Good explanation. I always wonder, why not just go from amp to speaker? NOW I know.

Simply put you can manage which freqs go to which amp, for an active set-up, I have JBL PRX series speakers, for subs I had them at - HPF 41hz- LPF 85-90hz 24db/oct Linkwitz-Riley, and the tops started where we ended for the subs, that is HPF-90hz -then LPF set to off, this way giving it whatever it can give up the top freqs, letting my PRX615 2-way internal xover handle them, sounds good to me, but play around from here by your ears :)

At 2:42 you also say an amplifier may be sending 2,000 watts to your sub and your sub might only be using 750 watts, once againt you're wrong. If an amplifier is rated for example at being able to output 2,000 watts continuous average power into a for example 4 ohm load then the amplifier will always be outputting 2,000 watts. Remember the controls on the front are NOT volume controls they're input attenuators which enable you to attenuate the incoming signal. Try and Google amplifiers, power oputput, impedance, low pass filters, high pas filters etc...and read up on it to understand more.

At 1:20 you say you should never feed low frequencies into a hig speaker but you're wrong because you can, all full range speaker cabinets (like you have there) can handle both low frequencies and high frequencies that's why they're called full range meaning the full frequency range. The only thing you shouldn't do is feed frequencies below 40hz to your full range cabs if the specifications state they can't go that low down into the low frequency range. Also you say you'll ruin your amplifiers but again you're wrong you won't. If you send mid or high or low frequencies to any amplifier it doesn't matter the amplifier will not fail as an amplifier is simply a device to amplify sound whatever frequencies you use it to amplifiy. At 2:20 you say some speakers have built in crossovers yes they they're called passive crossover networks. Quite a few subs also have built in low pass filters and it's perfectly ok to use the sub with the low pass filter built in. The only problem you might have is that the low pass filters can have a frequency cut off point which is about 150hz or something and ideally you should be using subs from about 80-100hz'ish downwards to whatever the sub's lowest frequency limit is.

I agree with you, the full range cabinet should and will produce lower frequencies. . No damage will occur with proper use. However the point of using subs is to take some of that load off the top cabs so they can presume better mid and highs with lower heat and less clipping. By his logic, purchasing a set of 15s is just a waste since the advantage of using 15s over a set of 10s or even 12s is better bass response. In fact, if you’re investing in a sub or 2, you would be better off going with a set of 12”s because the 12s tend to have more crisp high bds over their 15” versions. Also today’s built in cross overs are very good. While I Bellevue that you won’t go wrong with the advice, I do believe that there are inaccuracies in the mix. I also think that the speakers deserve the highest budget priority and the wireless microphone needs more consideration than what most DJs/sound guys give it.

You will never beat an analogue crossover because their far more flexible, reliable and easier to use, i wouldn't trust any digital equipment which can be far to complex

Do we need to crank all volume on amp? 🤔
@djteknovibe937 жыл бұрын
It's not a volume because the controls on amplifiers are not volume controls they're input attenuators, also have a read on how to set gain structure and you'll understand a little more too about the fact you don't need the amplifier's input attenuators on full. Putting them on full reduces the dynamic range of the system which means there's more noise (audible hiss) coming through your speakers.
