I think her biggest flaw originally was she is supposed to be a scifi character and she looks like a extra from magic the gathering it's possible to have a magic character in a scifi property but they have to look like they fit in to the world I really like your redesigns so far you aren't afraid to add color and detail to things

Which one do we prefer? Mate. Elderly home patient with full diapers vs a badass old woman in a profession where most die young. Also as a big fan of gold and black color mix she came out fantastic. Red accent was a nice touch. Also, big props for not making all redesigns overly sexy. We all like booba but there is time and place for it, and this woman demands respect not horniness. Really well done.

Real women demand our respect AND our horniness, as the latter is an obvious sign we find these women beautiful. Sadly, the 'Concord' game developers forced onto us IMAGINARY women who want to be seen as ugly, not to "Fight the male gaze!" as they FALSELY CLAIM, but because the game developers want us to think they are the ONLY WOMEN ON EARTH who are beautiful, the way Cersei Lannister from 'Game of Thrones' wants. I repeatedly proposed the idea Duchess- whose nickname and costume suggest she's RICH- should look young because she got plastic surgery to make herself look 50 years younger. What REAL-WORLD woman of Duchess' age will turn down this opportunity?

Congrats on 10k🥳🔥💯 Also it seems everyone who redesigns this character is upping the anty of the whole Old, Wise and Magically Powered old lady motif😂 Can't say I blame y'all the idea is pracrically slapping you in the face. The problem with these designs is they seem to be FIRST drafts of ROUGH ideas they had at the VERY least...and they somehow thought they were good enough to make it into the final game. Altho I have heard the concept art was better...ever so slightly so who reallys knows WHAT these people were thinking💀😭 Love these vids as an aspiring artist myself. In all my channel search I have mever seen an artist break down their design process this succintly b4 while keeping it entertaining. This is my new favorite redesign. She kinds reminds me of Kreia/Darth Traya mixed with Jocasta Nu and Count Dooku, and I love it! The hooded cloak, pauldrons, and intricate belt design make her look way more badass and intimidating than the original design. Makes me wish she would shown up in Star Wars Visions as Lop's Jedi Master.

I like the redesign but it leans a little heavily into fantasy as opposed to sci-fi or near-future. Adding some quilting, branding, or circuitry into the cloak might've helped in that respect, or perhaps changing the pauldron to be more function over form (like the horns being mini-mortars). Could also reintroduce the gun, although instead of an SMG maybe a grenade launcher to match the belt. Either way, really like your process and the thinking behind your design.

To be honest, calling her Duchess is pretty stupid. Her kit sounds more akin to elemental mysticism with the manipulation of metal. If anything, she would be more like a sci-fi version of a Taoist/ Wu Xing practitioner.

Excellent work on the costume design. The dragon motif is an AWESOME idea. Personally, I'd make her look ARTIFICIALLY young, like someone who got the best plastic surgery available- and as her nickname, royal purple costume, and gold-plated arms suggest, she can AFFORD IT. Real-world grannies do NOT like to look their age, and will use everything from lighting, to makeup, to plastic surgery to look younger. Give her skin that's literally plastic-like, and have the in-game dialogue hint at her actual age, to create a memorable character others will want to portray in hentai images, cosplay as, BUY MERCHANDISE OF, etc.

I thought her nr. 1 ability was to shape bronze, or metal in general... which is why she is covered in it: she shapes it to create barriers and shields. I dont know if she can launch it but I have seen gold colored walls in random places, supposedly created by her.

I was curious enough about the name Dutchess, so I was looking at titles used by the nobility in during ancient Chinese dynasties. What I found was that women couldn't hold the title of empress, only wife or consort to the emperor. That got me thinking, in any IP that has a duke, he's always subservient to a king, but the way that I've seen dutchess used has ingrained in my mind that the dutchess can be the supreme leader of a country.

I believe the disparity in the frequency of the usage of the two terms is why in my head, the term duke conjures an image of someone beneath a king, but I can imagine a dutchess being a sovereign ruler.

There are a few distinct differences between Chinese and European feudalism. It depends on the era of course, but while there were nobles and official they lacked the traditional strict aristocracy of Europe. So no dukes/dutches but would have been some vague feudal lord equivalent. So it's interesting they gave her a European title... My guess is Lady, Magistrate, Governess were all off the table ideologically.

So this is exactly what I'm talking about when I say people design character that is NOT a shooting character. Shooter character doesn't only look cool they have to look cool AND also look right holding a gun. This design I would believe it 100% if she's holding a sword. A machine gun? Not a chance. The design has too much traditional elements and too little sci-fi elements when it should've been the reverse. You spent time putting on these very detailed ornaments and dragon head but those aren't suiting for a character in a futuristic sci-fi setting that's (probably) living on another planet. And using a machine gun. They look cool just not matching with the setting. Keep only one, discard the rest, replace the tradition silky clothing with sci-fi armor plating. I know drawing sci-fi details takes a lot of time and effort than just some wrapping clothes and this is not a hard commit just some part-time idea, but if you design a futuristic shooter character you need to put those in. Take Illari from Overwatch as example. Her design has an overall look that's traditionalism base, has a cape, but the outfit is also heavily modified with sci-fi details that makes her look believable as a character living in a future setting where A.I robots exist but also embracing tradition. Your design is 98% medieval fantasy save for those couple grenades.

Lmao no, Duke and Duchess are European in origin (not sure if you were being sarcastic or not😅) and were not and never have been used by Asian countries. They have their own hierarchies with their own unique titles, a bigly missed opportunity from the devs to introduce something different, but once again we got a Western concept (duchess) with the Western person removed. Brilliant redesign btw🍻

I don't really think you need to redesign any Assassins Creed characters. Their main outfits are generally pretty good, with some questionable secondary outfits (like the Armor of Brutus and Shay's native armor). The only minor thing I'd change from your design is her face. You stayed too close to the original making her look 100 years old. She should have resembled Michelle Yeoh. Asian women stay youthfully hot until they hit 75. Then they instantly for some strange reason turn into looking like an ancient grandmother. The green version works, but I would go for a darker forest green and red would be a brownish red you see in polished Asian wood craving statues. The frill hanging off the belt would stay red.

The design is badass, though it gets an F for role/character ability communication, though that's not your fault so much as the original design's, and you just stuck to it. I.E. you could stick this character design into god knows how many different places, and people would say "cool design--what does she do?" Just goes to show that Concord designers knew absolutely bupkis about good design, so even when someone makes the character far *cooler*, it still needs an entire redesign if they want to be on the level of Overwatch characters that also have clear role communications through one look at them. Good stuff making another bit of lemonade out of an utter lemon, though.

black and gold looks the best but i'm confused by the... leg guard? I guess I'm not sure where the biologic ends, it looks like the leg guard has an inch separation from the shin itself but maybe i'm looking at it wrong.

The grieves are scalloped for better movement but retaining protection on her joints. It looks like it's 'sticking out' because the material of the skirt is behind the knee guard. I can see how that is confusing, I should have draped it over the front.

Anyway, there was of course Duchess and Duke in China, Japan, etc. Not now, but in history. It's called "Gong" in ancient China, Duke-equivalent. Iirc until we lost the war, Japan had a Koushaku peerage title, which is also Duke-equivalent. Idk about Korean-equivalent of Duke, but it existed back then. I remember seeing a Duke in historical K-Drama (should be somewhat accurate) I can only think like, "Maybe she was a descendant of an ancient Ducal family who lost their title." I mean, I'm from an ancient family, too! Which obviously lost its title and wealth after the war, lol 😅
